Maxton Hall Season 2 Episode 5 drops on Friday, November 21, 2025.
You’ll find it only on Prime Video, sticking with their usual Friday release schedule. The show, adapted from Mona Kasten’s popular young adult books, dives deep into the tangled lives of students at the elite Maxton Hall private school.
There’s love, betrayal, and a lot of personal growth packed into each episode. At the heart of it all, you have Ruby Bell and James Beaufort, who are still trying to hold on to each other while dealing with family drama and the chaos of their world. Their story keeps getting more complicated, and that’s what makes it hard to look away.
So, Maxton Hall is like Gossip Girl’s slightly posher cousin. Here, friendships get tested, rivalries are off the charts, and romance is delicious. Now, Season 2 is not just coasting on the first season’s hype; it’s going harder with more drama and more backstabbing.
By now, Ruby and James are in emotional dodgeball, dealing with fallout from betrayals and fresh chances popping up when you least expect them.
Maxton Hall Season 2 Episode 5 detailed release information and cast

Maxton Hall Season 2, Episode 5, Deceptive Lightness, drops on November 21, 2025. If you are on the West Coast, set your alarm for midnight.
It’s only streaming on Prime Video, so you will need a subscription. In the US, that’s $14.99 a month or, $139 for the year. If you are not sure about the commitment, there’s a 30-day free trial, so you can totally binge and decide if it’s worth your cash.
Season 2 of Maxton Hall has Harriet Herbig-Matten playing the role of Ruby Bell, who is basically the heart of the show, always pushing through with that stubborn spark. Damian Hardung steps in as James Beaufort, who has all kinds of rich kid problems, tons of family drama, and more.
On the sidelines, you have Sonja Weißer playing Lydia Beaufort, and Fedja van Huêt as Mortimer Beaufort, James’s dad, who is the walking definition of “strict.” There is also Justus Riesner as Alistair Ellington, and he stirs the pot in all the best (or worst) ways when it comes to the group’s social chaos.
The rest of the crew includes Ben Felipe as Cyril Vega, Cosima Leonie Wiesend as Camille, and Esmael Agostinho as Wren Fitzgerald. They all show up and throw in their own drama, making things even messier. The whole cast has some serious acting chops; their chemistry and the way they handle all the twists are what make Maxton Hall so addictive.
Recap of Maxton Hall Season 2 Episodes 1-4 and expectations for Episode 5

By Episode 4, Maxton Hall Season 2 turns up the heat on Ruby and James’s relationship. James finally steps up and makes things official with Ruby, even though his father, Mortimer, is breathing down his neck and wants them apart. In this episode, there’s a wild picnic scene where Elaine, who used to be a friend but is now clearly on the enemy team, tries to drug Ruby.
The plan totally blows up in her face. Instead of tearing them apart, everything just builds up to James and Ruby announcing their relationship in front of everyone.
The earlier episodes put Ruby straight into the middle of family pressure, future concerns, and the roller coaster of keeping up at school. Besides, James was often fighting with his father, in conflict about what he wants and what his dad expects. The moment James delivered that speech at the charity gala in Episode 3, the press was immediately informed, and their relationship was under the spotlight.
Only then, Alice Campbell barged in with a proposal for Ruby: a twist that is going to change the situation. Not only that, but also the relationships between friends and families are becoming more tangled, as secrets and treachery are making things much more difficult.
Maxton Hall Episode 5, Deceptive Lightness, is becoming more intense. The heavy post-picnic vibe makes everything super tight, an especially hard time for James, who is even fighting inner demons and dealing with his father’s influence. Ruby’s new venture, which surprised everyone last episode, makes her life more dynamic and redirects her plot.
Be prepared for a whole range of feelings, main clashes, and alliances changing that bring the characters nearer the end of the season. If you are expecting to see some touching moments and startling turns of events, this episode is for you, as all those intertwined relationships are finally starting to unravel.
Maxton Hall Season 2 Episode 4's ending has a cliffhanger that leads to major consequences in Episode 5. The episode ends with tension as James’s father, Mortimer, is on his way home after his flight was rescheduled due to the bad weather
This gives rise to a very delicate and nerve-racking situation since Mortimer has made it very clear that he does not want James to have anything to do with Ruby Bell and prefers James to marry a girl from a richer family instead.
The cliffhanger presents the scenario where James and Ruby are trying hard not to be seen by Mortimer while all three are going to the house, thus putting the already weak relationship of the three in a more difficult position.
