Daredevil: Born Again was released on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, but it takes place before Captain America: Brave New World, which hit theatres earlier on February 14, 2025.
With Captain America: Brave New World added to Disney+ on May 8, 2025, just over three months after its theatrical release, fans finally got confirmation: the film's events unfold after those of Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again takes place before Captain America: Brave New World
It is not unnatural for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to release films and shows out of chronological order. For instance, in MCU's timeline, Captain Marvel, released in 2019, takes place before Iron Man, which was released in 2008, almost a decade earlier. Hence, it is no surprise that Captain America: Brave New World, released before Daredevil: Born Again, actually takes place after the events of the show.
Disney+ finally made Captain America: Brave New World available for streaming on the platform on May 28, 2025. So, now, if you check out the official Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline on the Marvel brand page on Disney+, you will see that it has been placed right after Daredevil: Born Again.

Captain America: Brave New World follows Thaddeus Ross (played by Harrison Ford), five months into his presidency, sends Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres to recover stolen adamantium. Amid political tension, brainwashing, and betrayal, they uncover Dr. Samuel Sterns's plan to sabotage Ross. After Ross becomes Red Hulk, Wilson stops him. Sterns is arrested, Bradley is exonerated, and a global treaty is established.
Daredevil: Born Again picks up years after the original Netflix series, with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) returning to practice law and justice. When Wilson Fisk (Vincent Philip D'Onofrio) becomes New York’s mayor and targets vigilantes, Murdock assembles allies to oppose him, leading to a fierce conflict between the former vigilante and the city’s newly empowered ruler.
While Disney+ has just confirmed that the events of Daredevil: Born Again take place before Captain America: Brave New World, a little detail in the latter project hinted at its place in the MCU timeline. It was subtle, but it helps in understanding the chronology of the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the film, Captain America (played by Sam Wilson) and the new Falcon (played by Josquin Torres) are invited to a White House event that takes place in April 2027. Since this event takes place towards the beginning of the film, we can tell that the film and all its events take place after April 2027.
Moreover, in episode two of Daredevil: Born Again, titled "Optics, we see Wilson Fisk deliver a New Year's Eve speech at the start of 2027 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This suggests that the events of Daredevil: Born Again take place in early 2027, just before the events of Captain America: Brave New World.
Both Captain America: Brave New World and Daredevil: Born Again are streaming on Disney+.
