The NCIS franchise grows with the latest officially announced addition: NCIS: Tony & Ziva, premiering September 4, 2025, on Paramount+. Fans will once again see Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David in the spotlight in an action-packed, character-based European escapade. The first three episodes will air on premiere day, and new episodes will air weekly until the season finale on October 23, 2025. It is a bold build-out for the franchise, which has built its reputation on complex characters, global storylines, and emotionally charged storytelling.

In a post-NCIS world, Tony and Ziva are reunited in the new series, where they reside with their daughter Tali and operate a security company. Their rather utopian life is cut short when Tony's company is raided, and the family has to leave Europe as fugitives. Family life, spy action, and suspense are blended by the series from single procedures. Who stars as whom in this new series, anyway? Following is the complete current list of actors and characters from official press releases.

Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo

Michael Weatherly reprises the role of Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo, a former NCIS Special Agent who became a private security expert. He had not been seen since Season 13 because Tony left to care for Tali after he believed Ziva had been killed.

Tony comes back into his role in the new show as a father and security consultant operating out of Europe. His mission is to protect his family and figure out who ambushed their company. Weatherly, the exec producer returning, brings back the DiNozzo mojo with a few years' worth of maturity and fatherhood added.

Cote de Pablo as Ziva David

Cote de Pablo returned as Ziva David, the former Mossad agent who had pretended to be dead who had pretended to be dead to protect her family. She had come back for NCIS Seasons 16 and 17, and viewers were left wondering what happened to her when she was brought back together with Tony.

With Ziva now present as a stay-at-home mom and covert agent, caught between survival instincts and emotional responsibility to family, her dark past and intelligence background will prove to be an asset when the couple begins to understand the larger threat hanging over them overseas.

Isla Gie as Tali David-DiNozzo

Isla Gie has been cast as Tony and Ziva's daughter, Tali David-DiNozzo. Tali is the focal point of the new series, both as an inspiration for her parents and as a character on her own merits.

It's the first time the character has been given an on-screen presence of any sort since being a baby in the show. Raised amidst danger, Tali will introduce a fresh emotional depth to otherwise action-thriller narrative, a glimpse into how a kid feels living in fear.

Other confirmed cast members

Apart from the three lead characters, NCIS: Tony & Ziva has multicultural cast members. The following actors have indeed been confirmed until now:

  • Amita Suman as Claudette Caron
  • Lara Rossi as Sophie Summers
  • Maximilian Osinski as Boris
  • Julian Ovenden as Jonah
  • James D’Arcy as Henry
  • Nassima Benchicou as Martine
  • Terence Maynard as Dr. Lang
  • Emmanuel Bonami as Pierre Galimard

Though the complete character details for the secondary cast have not been made public, their casting indicates an even split of allies, enemies, and stakeholders between Tony's security firm and the mysterious pursuing factions.

Showrunner and production team

The series is developed by John McNamara, who also worked on The Magicians and Trumbo. His hiring is a step towards serialized and emotionally layered storytelling. Along with him, executive producers include Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, and Shelley Meals.

Each of them has writing, acting, and production credits in procedural dramas and serial thrillers, which is a strong and dynamic move towards the spin-off.

Plot structure and synopsis

The spinoff features Tony and Ziva co-parenting in Europe and operating a security business. When the business comes under attack, the family must flee on a trail of covert threats that pose dangers to all three of them. The central mystery is attempting to figure out who ambushed them, and why they did it. Filmed in various European locations, the show is designed to balance action, suspense, and family drama in just the right proportions.

The show will have 10 episodes total, which makes for a very condensed story arc. Instead of stand-alone episodes, the program will be serialized with one big story throughout the season. This is a departure from the traditional model and approaches the limited-series thriller model.

Filming locations and production timeline

Filming began in Europe in 2024, with scenes shot across various cities to reflect the transcontinental chase featured in the series. This international scope expands the NCIS universe geographically, offering a different texture compared to U.S.-based entries like NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i, and NCIS: Sydney.

The production’s focus on real European locations is expected to enhance the series' realism and narrative immersion.

How the spin-off connects to the NCIS Universe

NCIS: Tony & Ziva exists firmly within the continuity but outside of current series episodes. To my knowledge, there are currently no crossover episodes with other current series formally in the works. All that aside, however, the franchise's long history of decades-spanning continuity storytelling does keep the door open for cameos by former friends in the future.

The spin-off is based mostly on the DiNozzo-David family unit and their solo adventure and is thus readily available to veterans and new viewers alike.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva reunites two of franchise lore's most iconic characters for a tale of parental responsibility and world espionage. Released on September 4, 2025, and with a confirmed full cast that includes Isla Gie as Tali and production under the John McNamara banner, the spinoff will take the franchise down new paths.

As soon as more information is released—i.e., on the secondary cast and subplots—this guide will be updated to include the latest official news.
