Mama June might be the one with her name in the title of multiple reality shows, but her four daughters have been in the spotlight just as much as she has. From heartbreak and transformation to custody battles and new beginnings, each of Mama June’s daughters has taken a very different path.
Fans first met the Shannon family through the pageant-loving Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson on Toddlers & Tiaras, but that was only the beginning. Through the ups and downs, the scandals and successes, all four of Mama June’s daughters—Anna, Jessica, Lauryn, and Alana—have had their stories play out in public. And now, with Season 7 of Mama June: Family Crisis premiering in May 2025, it's a good time to catch up with where they all stand today.
Anna Marie 'Chickadee' Cardwell was Mama June's firstborn
Anna Cardwell was Mama June’s firstborn, becoming a mom herself to daughters Kaitlyn and Kylee. While she was part of the family’s early TV fame, her path took a tragic turn after she was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer in early 2023.
Her health battle included chemo and a fight that ended far too soon in December 2023. A year later, Mama June posted on Facebook:
“We miss the hell out of Anna Marie Cardwell and would give my last penny to just talk to her.”
It’s clear the loss shook the whole family. June also shared how she brings Anna “everywhere” with her, honoring that wish like a promise etched in time.
Jessica Shannon: Surgery, sweat, and a surprise proposal
Jessica, Mama June’s second daughter, has mostly stayed out of drama, but that doesn’t mean she’s stayed out of the spotlight. Fans watched her makeover unfold, from health routines to a reported $80,000 transformation that included liposuction and a gastric balloon.
“Cravings can be a struggle, but I’m glad I’ve been staying committed,”
she said back in 2021. That confidence boost paved the way for more big news: In September 2024, she announced her engagement to girlfriend Shyann McCant.
“She said yes!”
Jessica shared on social media, still shaking from nerves in the photo. The caption said it all:
“Y’all I’ve found my happy place.”
Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird: Custody, chaos, and new chapters
Lauryn, better known as Pumpkin, has long played a central role in the family’s storyline. She married Joshua Efird, and the two grew their family, welcoming twins Sylus and Stella in 2022—adding to their crew with daughter Ella and son Bentley. But parenting isn’t all she’s taken on.
In 2022, she was granted full custody of her younger sister Alana, with Mama June ordered to pay $800 monthly in child support. Though that decision caused tension, Lauryn told People in mid-2023,
“I just want to fix things with my mom and move on.”
By August 2024, Lauryn filed for divorce from Joshua. Soon after, she began dating Darrin Kitchens, while Joshua reportedly started seeing someone new, too.
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson: Growing up with the cameras
The youngest of her daughters, Alana, rose to fame first, but she’s also had to navigate growing up with millions watching. From her child pageant days to earning over a million followers online, she’s stayed in the public eye. Alana has been in a steady relationship with Dralin Carswell since 2021. But his February 2023 DUI arrest brought some unwanted attention, especially as Alana considered her future.
“Not until after school, probably,”
she told E! News when asked about marriage plans.
“Just because it’s so expensive and a wedding is a lot of work.”
Alana also continues to be vocal about criticism. She’ll return to TV alongside Mama June, Jessica, and Lauryn in the upcoming season of Family Crisis.

Mama & her daughters have been through more than their fair share of loss, legal battles & life changes. Their upcoming season 7 assures yet another observation of their lives, but off-camera, their stories are messy, and all about resilience and small victories. From the Many Accomplishments of Mama June's Daughters- Jessica's Happiness, Lauryn's Toughness, Alana's Clapbacks and even though June is no easy force to have around, one thing is certain: the connection, for better or worse, remains.
