Memory of a Killer casts Gina Torres in a brand new role, details revealed

Gina Torres (Suits) is all set to return to the screen in Fox and Warner Bros’ new drama series, Memory of a Killer, where she will play FBI Agent Linda Grant, standing against the show’s main character, as per Deadline.

The show will be based on De Zaak Alzheimer, the 2003 Belgian crime thriller. In this adaptation, Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) takes the lead role as Angelo Doyle, a hired gun who seems to have reached the end of the rope. He is hiding a dark secret about his life: he is suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s, which has begun affecting his work.

Torres’s Grant will be the threat to Doyle’s life, as she tries to unmask his double life through her expertise in the field. TVLine describes the character, as revealed by Fox:

“A mercurial, seasoned, and brilliantly tenacious FBI Agent who becomes a major antagonist for Angelo across Season 1. When Grant begins investigating one of Angelo’s kills, it puts them on a collision course that will see Grant come perilously close to unmasking Angelo’s many secrets and threatening everything he holds dear.”

Besides them, the cast revealed so far also includes Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) as Dutch, Richard Harmon (Final Destination: Bloodlines) as Joe, Odeya Rush as Maria, Daniel David Stewart as Jeff, Michaela McManus as Nicky, and Alexandra Castillo as Jane. The outlets also shared a few more details about the project.

Memory of a Killer will show Patrick Dempsey's character fighting an uphill battle against himself

Patrick Dempsey’s hitman character will be at the front and centre of Fox’s Memory of a Killer, which will presumably focus on his memory struggles while trying to stay in control of his violent life.

Joining him in Memory of a Killer is Michael Imperioli as Dutch, a well-established Italian chef who is Angelo Doyle’s close friend and also his employer. Dutch assigns Doyle his targets while also offering his restaurant as a front for Doyle’s operations, according to TVLine. Richard Harmon plays Joe, a hitman who is connected to Angelo and Dutch’s business.

Odeya Rush plays Angelo’s daughter, Maria, who is dealing with her own relationship struggles. Per TVLine, she married young, which left her with a fair share of regrets. While hoping for an adventure, she stays by her father’s side, taking care of him.

Speaking about Gina Torres, Deadline reports that she will have a heavily recurring role in Memory of a Killer, which seems like an investigative thriller with a heady cat-and-mouse chase.

It will be an exciting turn for Torres, who is widely known for playing attorney Jessica Pearson in Suits. She also starred in the sci-fi series Firefly as Zoe Washburne and reprised that role in the 2005 film Serenity. The Memory of a Killer star has also been a part of 9-1-1: Lone Star as EMS captain Tommy Vega.

According to TVLine, Memory of a Killer has not received an official release date yet, but it is expected to arrive by next year.
