FOX's latest new drama, Memory of a Killer, stars the ex-Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey front and center as a hitman living two different lives at the same time. The crime thriller brings forth the mystery of a hitman living two different lives, one where he is a photocopy salesman with a loving family, and another where he's a serial hitman killer in New York City.

The gripping thriller ups the stakes by revealing that the hitman of New York City also doesn't have a lot of time, as he's suffering the early onset signs of Alzheimer's disease, so it's not long before he loses his memory.

Patrick Dempsey's return to television is accompanied by the biggest of ironies. The actor who played a neurosurgeon saving lives every day and trying to find a cure for Alzheimer's is now playing a character who is a hitman taking lives every day and who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's.

The upcoming thriller from FOX, titled Memory of a Killer, is set to premiere on January 26, 2026, at 9 PM, marking Dempsey's long-awaited return to broadcast TV. It is set to be available to stream on Hulu on January 27. The official logline for the crime thriller reads:

"A ruthless hitman leading a double life begins losing his memory to early-onset Alzheimer’s just as his wife’s suspicious death and threats to his pregnant daughter force him to unravel a deadly conspiracy from his past."

Dempsey will be joined by a talented ensemble of actors on Memory of a Killer, including Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) as Dutch, Gina Torres (Suits) as FBI agent Linda Grant, Richard Harmon as another hitman, Joe, Odeya Rush as Angelo's daughter Maria, Daniel David Stewart as Maria's husband Jeff, and Peter Gadiot as local detective Dave.

The debut season of the FOX crime thriller is set to feature 10 episodes, of which the first episode will premiere on January 26 and will be followed by weekly releases. A joint production of Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television, the crime thriller finds Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler as co-showrunners. Zelman and Kessler have replaced Tracey Malone and Ed Whitmore as showrunners.

FOX has only released a preliminary teaser starring Dempsey along with his talented group of co-actors. The teaser finds Angelo's worlds colliding as he's hunting his target one second, in a family dinner in another, and struggling with his early-onset Alzheimer's overall. The teaser offers a gripping portrayal of the mysterious, thrilling world of Memory of a Killer.

Inspired by the 2003 Belgian thriller film De Zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer Case), Memory of a Killer is set to be a gripping watch. Dempsey's Angelo Ledda has managed to keep the two facets of his self completely separated until his fading memory questions everything he holds true, and his worlds begin to collide.
