Wednesday Season 3 is officially happening, and the news came even before Season 2 dropped. The series' renewal for a third season happened before Season 2 became accessible to audiences. Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams, and director Tim Burton participated in announcing the renewal. Netflix announced the step a few weeks before the Season 2 premiere date.

Showrunner Alfred Gough said,

"Television has — and always will be — a team sport. [Co-creator and co-showrunner] Miles [Millar] and I have been doing this long enough to know that shows like this don't come along every day. It’s such an alchemy of writing, directing, acting, crew, streamer, studio, and fans. We remain grateful and excited to continue this journey and tell these stories with all of our partners."

The success of the show was a big factor in this early choice. Season 1 was the biggest English-language series season on Netflix, gaining 252 million individual views. Netflix's head of content, Bela Bajaria, stated that the series

"became more than just a hit. People watched it again and again, brought their parents into it, and it turned into a multigenerational show."

The show's robust performance caused Netflix's early declaration to continue the tale.

First poster for Season 3 unveiled

Even hours after announcing the renewal, Netflix dropped the first poster of Season 3. In the poster, Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega, is seen carrying a magical globe with three on it, officially declaring the new season's status.

As per IANS, Netflix posted on Instagram,

"Season 2 awakens in two weeks. Season 3 is the next omen, already in motion, already inevitable."

Catherine Zeta-Jones, the actress who plays Morticia Addams on the television program, also shared on the occasion. She said,

"When Wednesday becomes a better day...Wednesday season 3..it’s official…. We shall return."

The visual of the poster and the words quoted from the cast and creators have created some buzz heading into the next season. Followers welcomed the news and images, giving hope for less wait time between seasons.

What to expect from Wednesday season 3?

With the new season announced and the poster released, everyone is wondering what's next. The Economic Times says that further details regarding Season 3 will be announced after Season 2 finishes. Jenna Ortega will continue to play Wednesday Addams by this stage, and director and executive producer Tim Burton will also be back.

Showrunner Alfred Gough previously said that

"Wednesday’s supernatural abilities will remain central to the plot, and the show will take a darker, more horror-driven tone" in the future episodes.

The second season, released in two parts, introduces new characters and guest stars, broadening the universe and establishing possible Season 3 plotlines. Rumors of a possible spin-off series are also being discussed, as indicated in media interviews, although details are not specified at this point.

Netflix's swift maneuvers indicate they are interested in keeping fans hooked and willing to venture further into the Addams Family universe.

Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in two parts. According to Netflix, Part 1 will be released on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 will follow on September 3, 2025. The season will have eight episodes, split evenly across both parts.
