The IT: Welcome to Derry series is all set to bring the Halloween scares with its October 26 premiere on HBO Max. Weeks ahead of the prequel series' release, HBO Max has revealed a promotional poster for the upcoming show.

Fans of the IT series are exceptionally excited and in anticipation of this installment, as this is the first release from the Stephen King adaptation franchise in six very long years. To make things even more exciting, Bill Skarsgård is set to return as Pennywise in this prequel. Skarsgård remains to date one of the more haunting representations of Pennywise.

The horror of Skarsgård is much too clear in the trailer for the upcoming IT: Welcome to Derry. A recent promotional poster revealed by HBO Max only upped the horror of the monster to a chilling degree.

The nightmare of IT will be traced back to the very start with the HBO Max prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry, set to premiere on October 26. The eeriness and chill that take over the town when the monster wakes up from its state of hibernation are all too familiar in the official trailer for the upcoming series. The logline for the same reads:

"Set in the world of Stephen King’s 'IT' universe, IT: WELCOME TO DERRY is based on King’s 'IT' novel and expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films 'IT' and 'IT Chapter Two.'"

The filmmakers responsible for the horror of the feature films, Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, are also the co-showrunners of the series, ensuring that everything that made IT the perfect slice of small-town horror is not lost in the series.

The season is set to be eight episodes, which will debut weekly, setting the season finale up for December 14. Andy Muschietti, who has also directed many episodes of the season, talked about the appearance of Pennywise on the show:

"In a series, it translates to basically not showing the monster in a movie until it’s the right time. It's the Jaws effect. It's very basic. The idea is building tension around the apparition of a monster that we know already, and people are waiting – when is it going to appear? It's very appropriate for a monster that is a shapeshifter to appear in several different shapes and manifestations before he shows up as a clown."

The latest poster released for IT: Welcome to Derry is a Corn Flakes advertisement lookalike, except the hand serving the milk is Pennywise's, and the box of cereal has his picture on it. The little girl in the advertisement poster has a creepy smile on her face as she looks on with the (tongue-in-cheek) caption that reads:

"Sink your teeth into a bowl of truth! "
"Manufactured in Derry, Maine. IT is the place to be "

Except that the IT is highlighted in red, referring to the monster.

Apart from Bill Skarsgård, the series also stars Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, Stephen Rider, James Remar, Rudy Mancuso, and Madeleine Stowe.
