Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline was invited into the recent episode of Josh Horowitz's podcast, and she revealed her funniest fan encounters. She shared how sometimes meeting fans gets funny, and sometimes it also hampers privacy and autonomy. She recalled laughingly that she encountered a little kid and a fan of the show, and when he saw her, he questioned how Cline isn't fat in real life.

"I was here a couple of weeks ago, and I met a little boy who was a big fan of the show. And he thought I was pregnant in real life. He was basically like, wait, why aren't you fat? I was like, yeah, I got it, don't worry about it."

Outer Banks first premiered in 2020, and its season 4 dropped in 2024, while the next new season is expected to release in 2026. The show has a huge fan base after 5 years of streaming. In the podcast by Josh Horowitz, when Madelyn Cline was asked to share some of the funniest fan encounters post success of the show, she recalled how a little boy almost asked her why she isn't fat in real life.

As mentioned, Sarah starts as the so-called "Kook Princess" and a member of the wealthy class. As the series progresses, she gradually breaks away from her privileged background as she falls for John B Routledge, the show's protagonist and a working-class "Pogue."

The host then delves deeper into how the intense fans of the show react when they see the actor in real life. Cline acknowledged that she usually gets a similar reaction.

"I think there's a very typical kind of reaction when someone you know recognises or sees me is like a scream or a squeal or a screech or a gasp."

She added that sometimes, encountering fans at the wrong time becomes a nightmare.

"Today I've been running late all day. It was in my fabulous slides, my sleep shorts, and my giant t-shirt with Jesse Joe at the back, my eye patches, hair not brushed, and I hadn't showered. I was in a mess, and then it was one of those moments when I was like " please, please, not right now," and it gets intense sometimes."

She acknowledged how it sometimes also impacts her privacy and autonomy when some fans try to build a conversation even in the bathroom.

"When it comes to privacy or autonomy, especially like where I live or where I am going, where I am travelling to or hotels or even bathrooms, I am like no."
