Michael C. Hall stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that one of the most impactful scenes he has shot for the whole series is the hospital scene with Dexter and Angel Batista. He clarified that it was his favorite sequence to film since it reflected the years of on- and off-screen experience he and actor David Zayas had in common. According to Hall, this relationship gave the picture a genuine sense of depth.

He went on to say that the situation was more than simply a reunion of former coworkers; it was a heated and emotional clash. According to Hall, the sequence highlighted the characters' tangled histories and unsaid realities, making it very significant to execute.

Hall explained that the dynamic between Dexter and Batista is both painful and honest. He said,

“It’s bittersweet for Dexter to reconnect with someone he genuinely respects, especially under these circumstances. There’s still fondness between them, but everything has changed.”

Dexter: Resurrection's first two episodes were broadcast on Paramount+ and Showtime on July 11. Beginning July 13, the series will broadcast weekly on Showtime. Season one will consist of ten episodes, finishing on September 5.
