What are the 5 most chilling Mindhunter episodes?

1) Season 1, Episode 7

In order to better understand the criminal mind, FBI Behavioural Sciences Unit Agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench interviewed the dreaded killer Jerry Brudos on the seventh episode of the debut season of Mindhunter. During the course of the interview, Agent Ford tried to bring out the vulnerable and perverted side of Brudos. One must keep in mind that Brudos was a real-life killer, and the accurate depiction of his mannerisms and quirks makes the episode especially bone-chilling. When Ford points out to Brudos the shoes he has purchased as an extension of a fetish, Brudos gets visibly excited.

2) Season 2, Episode 3

This episode from the second season of the show was markedly tragic and unsettling. Tench and his wife Nancy's little son Brian is involved in the grisly murder of a toddler. It is even worse that the toddler was murdered inside a property that Nancy was planning to arrange the sale of. Brian and a group of children tortured the toddler before pinning him to a cross and murdering him in cold blood. Tench's marriage visibly fell apart as a consequence.

3) Season 1, Episode 2

This was the second time that the BSU Agents met the co-ed killer, i.e., Ed Kemper, on Mindhunter. The Netflix show absolutely aced the casting of this real-life serial killer who appears on several episodes over both seasons of the show. In a bid to once again make Kemper feel comfortable around them, Ford starts speaking about his girlfriend. However, things soon take a sinister turn as Kemper graphically starts describing his crimes against women, going into minute detail.

4) Season 2, Episode 5

In this Mindhunter episode, Ford went to meet Tex Watson, one of the prime accused in the brutal 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders, which were executed by Watson in consort with the other members of the Manson family, headed by the dreaded Charles Manson. Tex describes the night of the murder in explanatory detail. What's really bone-chilling is the fact that no empathy or emotion crosses his face while he's explaining, leading the audience to believe that he is a textbook psychopath.

5) Season 1, Episode 9

Last but not least, this episode featured serial killer Richard Speck being interviewed by Holden and Ford to gain insights on their criminal profiling study. During the course of the interview, Speck let the agents in on a bit of his killer disposition as he happened to kill a bird with his own hands.

Mindhunter is exclusively available on Netflix.
