Miranda Lambert appeared on American Idol this week to coach the contestants through their Top 10 journey as they were about to be shortlisted into the Top 8. As for her performance on the stage, she decided to sing a song from her debut album from 2005. It is called Kerosene.
Adding her current flair to it, Miranda delivered the performance in a leather outfit. The judges, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, were all present. In 2025, her album had hit its 20-year mark, and the country singer seems to be proud of her career as she expressed on the American Idol stage.
As is seen by fans, Miranda is relaunching the album in various ways in hopes of celebrating it. She has recently released the album on vinyl. The singer has also revealed a secret song she had written around 2005 but never released. It is called "I Don't Love Here Anymore."
Miranda Lambert was a happy addition to American Idol this week as a guest mentor
Miranda Lambert guided the contestants as they navigated with various options to make their Top 10 performances better. One of them was John Foster, who recently became America's sweetheart because of his cowboy outfit, cream-colored hat, and guitar he always carried.
The 18-year-old from Addis claimed that Miranda was his first ever crush as a kid. Hearing this, the singer was flattered. She said,
"Really? Good taste. John walked in with his cowboy hat and western shirt and his guitar and told me I was his first crush. I was like, OK, I love you."
John never seems to keep his guitar away during the performance on American Idol. However, this time, Miranda asked him to put it aside for a few moments while singing and interacting with the audience. This would help the judges see his performance as an artist and a potential country singer in the future.
The week was themed "Iconic women." Posting an image on Instagram with Carrie, her caption reminded the fans of the history they both have.
Carrie first appeared on the American Idol stage as a contestant in 2005 on season 3. She went on to win the show as Simon Cowell had predicted during the Rock and Roll week.
When Miranda visited the set, the two iconic women had a chance to set up a little reunion backstage. They had collaborated on a hit song in 2014 called "Somethin' Bad."
Sharing a reel on their social media, Miranda seems to be holding a bedazzled kerosene can, an ode to her hit song, while Carrie is wearing a baseball hat, which refers to her most popular song called "Before He Cheats."
American Idol will have one live episode on May 11, and the finale will drop on May 18, 2025.
