Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban has confirmed his exit from the show after season 16. However, this is a sentimental moment for him, as well as the fans who have come to adore his fiery presence as a panel member.
He has been on the ABC series for more than a decade and has invested in a lot of ventures through the platform.
As Shark Tank's newest season airs right now, the filming for it was done in 2024. Now that Mark has officially exited, he sat down for an interview and shared his feelings about the whole deal with People.
Talking about the bonds that he had made on the set, Mark said shared who he would miss the most. The Shark Tank investor expressed,
"Less because of the show itself and more because of the people I'll miss. Our crew from Sharks to PAs to producers are incredible to work with and to know. That's who I will miss more than anything."
Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban exits the show after 15 years
Mark Cuban became a staple at Shark Tank in 2011 and has never looked back since. However, he was adamant about his decision to leave the series now, as it was time for him to look into other ventures and grow as a person.
He has recently also sold the majority of his shares of the Dallas Mavericks and became a silent partner. This move comes amidst his focus on spending time with his family and working on Cost Plus Drugs, his latest business project.
The last episode of season 16 was filmed in September 2024. Mark reminisced that he felt a "readiness to move on," but that doesn't mean he will not leave with "a lot of sadness." Particularly, he says he will miss his fellow sharks and the crew that made the series possible.
Talking about why he has decided to leave Shark Tank now, Mark explained,
"Shooting the show is easy and fun. I actually love the shooting part of it. But it's a lot of time, and even more time to work with all the companies I invest in... For those entrepreneurs, it's their entire lives.
He added,
Once a deal closes, I have to do what we can to give them a chance to make their American Dream come true. That's a huge commitment intellectually, time-wise wise and emotionally. I was ready to commit that time to my family and Cost Plus Drugs."
Even though the investor is leaving his seat on the show, he shared how much the series has shaped his life in the past fifteen years that he has been on it.
Earlier, Mark said, he used to be just a sports guy because he owned the Dallas Mavericks. But after his appearance on the series, celebrities started to reach out to him for business and investment advice and told him how much they loved him.
Shark Tank season 16 episodes release weekly on ABC at 8 PM Eastern Time on Fridays. They are later available to watch on Hulu.
