But her choices land her in a lot of trouble that she did not foresee, and it does not help that the Governor’s staff is working against her. Her affair with her bodyguard comes to haunt her. Rather publicly.

Miss Governor, Season 1, Part 2, premiered on Netflix recently. The series follows the story of Antoinette, a politician who realizes that the job is more challenging than what she had initially anticipated, all the while trying to keep her family in check.

Tyler Perry’s Miss Governor Season 1 Part 2 explained

In Part 1, Antoinette will become the first Black lieutenant governor of Mississippi. She will learn quickly that the job is not as she had previously assumed. She is often overlooked and given menial responsibilities. Antoinette gets into a spat with Governor Harper about a pipeline project. Things turn chaotic when the Governor suddenly falls sick.

In Miss Governor Season 1 Part 2, we find Antoinette trying to take advantage of Governor Harper’s absence, but his staff is not having it. Most of the people were kept in the dark about Harper’s true condition, and in exchange for keeping Antoinette from further questioning, Jed will agree to give her more critical duties. But things don’t go according to plan as things slowly start to spiral out of her control.

Antoinette continues to play her part in the pipeline project. When Antoinette learns about Governor Harper’s massive heart attack, Jed worries that she will want to take over the position. He tries to find something on Antoinette instead and discovers that she and Michael, her bodyguard, were in a relationship.

Miss Governor Season 1 Part 2 also sees Jed’s nefarious plan take shape. Jed plans to set up a State Senate hearing against Antoinette with Senator Cole. At the hearing, Senator Cole is determined to tarnish Antoinette's reputation by attacking her ethics and making her team appear deceitful with respect to misusing government funds.

At this point, it looks like it is all downhill for Antoinette, but suddenly things take a surprising turn when Henry, whom Jed had kept in her office to keep her away from doing important work, reveals everything. Towards the climax of the final episode of Miss Governor Season 1 Part 2, it is revealed that Harper and Jed wanted to prevent Antoinette from doing any substantial work.

Henry shares that despite their best efforts, Antoinette continues to work hard for the people of the state. He also shares that during his time in the office, he helped many people hide things much worse than what Antoinette is being penalized for. An indication that white, male politicians can get away with anything. The hearing gets adjourned.

Jed feels that his career will not survive if Antoinette becomes acting Governor. With Harper’s condition getting more attention, it is only a matter of time before Antoinette takes on the duties of Governor. While there was a possibility that she would have considered giving him a place in her team, with the hearing and the revelations that came out, it no longer looks like an option.

But Jed is not giving up easily. As Antoinette’s joyous team decides to take over the governor’s office, Jed will get Harper out of the hospital so he can get back to work. He even calls a press conference, which surprises Antoinette and her team. Harper and Jed's allies will do anything to keep him in power, even bring a frail-looking man to appear in public. Miss Governor Season 1 Part 2 ends with Antoinette realizing that the road to becoming the first Black Governor of Mississippi is much harder, leaving her future open-ended.
