Ariel Winter, who played Alex Dunphy on the hit sitcom Modern Family, has spoken about whether or not she still watches reruns of the sitcom that made her famous. Winter admits that she does not pause to watch Modern Family when she finds it on TV.

She made this point in an interview, stating that her viewing habits are crime documentaries and procedural drama over sitcoms, including even as important to her career as Modern Family. Although she didn't watch the reruns, Winter indicated she has happy memories of her days on the program, which aired for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020.

Winter began on the show as an 11-year-old and spent much of her life learning on the set and growing up with her cast members, creating strong relationships that have endured beyond the show's end.

Winter's professional life has moved on since, with new productions and individual activism, but her association with Modern Family and its influence on her existence remain uninterrupted, as she has stated.

Ariel Winter's watching patterns

Ariel Winter has openly admitted to not watching repeat episodes of Modern Family, even when she finds them when channel surfing. In her own words,

"I actually don't," she said to PEOPLE, laughing that she is "like a crime documentary procedural show kind of girl" and is "in on all the dark shows".

This preference for heavier and more mature programming is the polar opposite of the humor of Modern Family, although she has portrayed Alex Dunphy for over ten years.

Winter's viewing habits reflect her tastes and not any lack of respect for the show itself. She has said she enjoyed her time working on the show and appreciates the experience and friendships that she gained while working there during that time.

Memories and impact of Modern Family

Although Ariel Winter doesn't sit through reruns of the show, she has looked back nostalgically on her experience on the show. She started the show at age 11 and didn't quite realize how well the show would do. Winter remembered being delighted to have gotten the job and to get to work with Ed O'Neill, who played her on-camera grandfather.

She indicated that the immediate success of the show was unexpected and was an excellent career break for her. Winter explained the unique experience of working on a special show for such an extended period, indicating that such extended runs are rare in the industry nowadays.

She also mentioned about bonding closely with her cast mates, particularly Nolan Gould who played her little brother. Winter averred that the cast was "like a real family," and that it did not feel normal when the show ended and they would no longer keep seeing each other all the time.

Ariel Winter's life and career now

Since Modern Family concluded, Ariel Winter has sought out new interests and projects. She relocated from Los Angeles and has been busy creating, creating a cooking show, and will resume doing voice acting for Sofia in Sofia the First next year.

Winter has also gotten involved with advocacy, specifically in the area of combating online s*xual predators. After watching a documentary series, she volunteered with an organization that assists law enforcement in catching online perpetrators. Winter has also said that her inspiration stems from life experience, and she gets satisfaction from assisting others through this endeavor.

Although she has moved on to other projects, she mentioned she still enjoys acting and would return to a network show if it were the right opportunity. Winter is still close with the previous cast members and appreciates the friendships developed during her time with Modern Family.
