The Harry Potter TV series has been announcing new cast additions left and right. After the announcement for the golden trio's casting, we have a few more casting announcements to add to the list.
Recently, Katherine Parkinson was cast as Molly Weasley, the mother of the red-haired Weasley household and the only motherly presence in Harry's life. This announcement was made along with six other cast announcements. Here's everything we know.
Katherine Parkinson has been cast as Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter TV series
HBO had announced that the new Harry Potter TV series would be a "faithful adaptation" of the original book series by J.K. Rowling, and the castings for the show have been true to this statement so far. Along with the Malfoys and some of Harry's schoolmates, HBO also announced that Katherine Parkinson would be joining the cast as Molly Weasley.
Molly Weasley, a mother to seven children and a motherly presence in Harry and Hermione's lives, is a fan-favorite Harry Potter character. Apart from being a mother, she is also an extremely brave and spirited wizard.
The British actor Katherine Parkinson has very big shoes to fill for this character, as Julie Walters did an extremely phenomenal job as Molly Weasley in the HBO movies. Her dueling and defeating Bellatrix Lestrange in the famous Battle of Hogwarts has to be one of the most memorable moments in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Katherine Parkinson was previously seen on The IT Crowd as Jen Barber, a role for which she won the BAFTA's British Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance in 2009 and 2014. She was also seen in other TV shows, including Doc Martin, Rivals, Here We Go, Humans, Whites, Defending the Guilty, Spreadsheet, Taskmaster, and Hang Ups. Parkinson has also appeared in several movies such as The Nan Movie, Easy Virtue, The IT Crowd Manual, That Christmas, Guitar Man, and Ahead of the Class.
Apart from Katherine Parkinson, there were several new announcements to the HBO casting for the Harry Potter series as well, including Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.
Additionally, according to reports from Variety, Daniel Rigby and Bel Powley will be playing Vernon and Petunia Dursley, Harry's uncle and aunt, his legal guardians, with whom he stays before he goes off to Hogwarts.
The cast list for the Harry Potter TV series keeps increasing, and we couldn't be more excited for it to make it to our screens.
