The killer turns into a babysitter in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Episode 3

The third episode of Monster: The Ed Gein Story begins with a flashback scene that takes us back to the time when Ed’s mother, Augusta Gein, forces Ed’s father out of the house. Augusta Gein is furious at Ed’s father for his drinking issue. She then tells her son that he should never touch a woman and “inflict” a woman with the “burden of a child”.

It cannot be denied that his mother’s words left a lasting impact on Eddie, which paved his actions later in life. Soon, the episode takes the viewers back to the present, where we see that Ed is wearing a woman’s dress and cleaning the house. He dances around the house frolicking.

However, just as he hears a knock and turns, we see a grotesque image of him wearing a woman’s skin on his face. He opens the door and speaks to the sheriff. The sheriff begins to question him about Mary Hogan, which he handles calmly. Ed’s demeanor does not reveal the truth, and the sheriff leaves his house thinking that he is not involved with Mary Hogan.

The scene cuts to Adeline arriving to speak to Ed about leaving early the previous time. She feels sorry for how she left. She also voices her feelings about how Ed’s mother did not look at her. Adeline begins to tell Ed about Christine Jorgensen, who went through a gender-confirming surgery.

Adeline’s words completely shock Ed, and he tells her that he will give her a surprise on Friday. Ed then goes to the graveyard and digs up the grave to take the ring from the skeleton. Ed then brings Adeline to the grave and proposes to her.

Adeline accepts Ed’s proposal; however, before they are able to celebrate their engagement, Eddie begins to recall his mother’s words about children and touching women. This leads Adeline to understand that Eddie needs to stay around children so that their marriage can be successful. She takes Eddie for a babysitting job, vouching for him.

As the episode of Monster: The Ed Gein Story continues, Ed begins his first babysitting job. The two children whom he had to babysit were continuously reminiscing about their previous babysitter, Evelyn. He was getting irritated by the constant comparison. So, he wanted to make an impression on the children. He decides to take them to his house.

At his house, he gives the children a magic show by using the human finger and turning himself into a woman, and then popping the head off. Ed’s actions completely traumatize the children. Soon, he takes them back to their parents’ house. According to him, he did a great job at babysitting.

However, right when he reaches their house, the mother of the children comes running. She is completely frantic about the well-being of the children. Her husband also comes out and warns Ed that he should not set foot on their property. Ed, instead of understanding his mistake, begins to blame the children’s previous babysitter, Evelyn, for losing his job.

The episode of Monster: The Ed Gein Story ends with Ed kidnapping Evelyn. He brings her to his house with the intention of ending her life. According to him, she is the reason his marriage to Adeline is facing so many hindrances. He also thinks that she took his job, which could have been his path to finally give Adeline what she deserves.

Ed ties Evelyn to a chair and then uses a mallet and bashes Evelyn multiple times, killing her. This episode of Monster: The Ed Gein Story leaves a lasting impact with the extent of horrifying elements that are present throughout.
