Mr. & Mrs. Murder, the latest four-part docuseries, shines light on the duplicitous murder of Bradfordville (Tallahassee) resident Mike Williams. On December 16, 2000, Mike went duck hunting with his best friend, Brian Winchester, at Lake Seminole. However, only one of the two had returned from the trip, Brian. Mike was presumed to have drowned and been eaten by alligators.

However, Brian's ex-wife, Kathy Thomas, and Mike's mother, Cheryl, never bought the story. Over the years, it was revealed that Brian had pulled the trigger, and even more shockingly, he was having an affair with Denise Williams, Mike's wife. Their suspicion started gaining traction when Brian and Denise got married in the 2000s, years after Mike was declared dead legally, thus the title of the series, Mr. & Mrs. Murder.

Mr. & Mrs. Murder Murder recap:

As mentioned earlier, Mr. & Mrs. Murder is a docu-series that explains the Mike Williams' case that remained unsolved until 2018. Here's what you need to know about this case depicted in Hulu's Mr. & Mrs. Murder:

  • Brian helped Mike get an insurance policy worth 1.5 million dollars

This happened just days before Mike's death. While it did not raise suspicion back then, over the years, this has become one of the suspicious elements. Furthermore, Brian, Kathy noted, did not care about his own family, and yet he had gone out of his way to help another one.

  • Mike's jacket and waders were found six months later

Six months after he went missing at Lake Seminole, Mike's jacket and waders were found in the lake. Mike's hunting license was also found inside the jacket. This led investigators to believe that Mike drowned in the lake and was devoured by alligators. However, as mentioned earlier, Kathy and Cheryl did not buy into it, and their suspicion grew stronger as something shocking happened.

  • Denise and Brian got married

Years after Mike's death, Brian divorced Kathy. Furthermore, he and Denise went public with their relationship. They even tied the knot in the late aughts, further raising Brian's ex-wife and Denise's former mother-in-law's suspicions. But it must be noted that both of them separated in 2012 because of Brian's s*x addiction. She even filed for a divorce in 2015, which led Brian to:

  • Attempt Denise's abduction

Brian did not want to divorce Denise, and therefore, he tried to kidnap Denise in August 2015. However, she managed to talk him down from acting on the plan, and despite promising not to report this attempt, she did that, leading to Brian's arrest. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for this attempt. His imprisonment revealed the truth about what happened to Mike.

  • Brian confessed to killing Mike and even revealed where he was buried

Investigators began interrogating Brian about Mike's disappearance and extended an olive branch of not being charged for the crime in exchange for the location of Mike's remains. Brian revealed where Mike was buried, and in October 2017, Mike's remains were officially recovered seventeen years after his disappearance somewhere close to the Carr Lake area.

Brian also revealed that while he was the one who killed Mike, it was Denise's idea, for which she was finally charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Therefore, even though we know what happened to Mike and who killed him, the bittersweet fact is that no one was charged for his murder. Mr. & Mrs. Murder highlights this painful fact.

"“Mr. & Mrs. Murder” follows the twisted story of two close-knit couples in Tallahassee, Florida - Kathy and Brian Winchester, and their childhood friends Mike and Denise Williams. Devout Baptists who shared a love for the outdoors, the couples did everything together, even planning their children’s births months apart. But on Dec. 16, 2000, their world turned upside down when Mike vanished during a duck hunting trip on Lake Seminole. With no body found, many believed he had drowned or was eaten by alligators. Years later, suspicions grew after Brian and Kathy divorced, and Brian married Denise. What first appeared to be a tragic accident soon pointed to something far more sinister. Over the next 13 years, Kathy relentlessly pursued the truth - uncovering a dark web of lies, betrayal and murder behind her friend’s disappearance. The four-part docuseries features an exclusive interview with Kathy, who for the first time, recounts the extraordinary steps she took to uncover the truth about Mike’s disappearance, including going undercover in a tense sting operation to secretly record her ex-husband, Brian. The series also includes interviews with friends and family of the Winchesters and Williamses, such as Brian’s younger sister and Denise’s best friend. In addition, viewers will hear from key law enforcement officials and special agents involved in the case, including the former Florida Wildlife Commission officer who led the original search for Mike and was on hand when months later remarkable evidence mysteriously turned up in Lake Seminole months later. “Mr. & Mrs. Murder” is produced by Plum Pictures and ABC News Studios for Hulu.
