Rami Malek's successful drama series, Mr. Robot ran extremely successful for four seasons, and one of the main reasons behind the success of the show was the portrayal of each of the characters and how everything that happened to them helped progress the storyline. One of the most complex characters explored in the show is that fo Tyrell Wellick, played by Martin Wallström.

Wellick's character arc goes through quite the journey throughout the show, especially since despite his solid loyalty to the fsociety, his relationship with Elliott is extremely rocky since Rami Malek's Elliott always keeps him at an arm's length distance, despite his multiple attempts to bond with him.

However, it is only when his story comes to an end that fans find out how loyal he is to Elliott and eventually, finally gets to hear that Elliott, too, cares for him.

Tyrell Wellick's death in Mr. Robot Season 4 was integral to the progression of the show

Tyrell Wellick has always been considered one of the most complex characters in Mr. Robot. However, the way his journey comes to an end in Season 4 is very integral to the progression of the show, and proves his loyalty to Elliott and fsociety till the very end.

In Season 4 Episode 4, titled "404 Not Found," Tyrell and Elliott are forced to spend time with each other as they find themselves stranded in snowy woods. While Tyrell tries once again to get Elliott to warm up to him, Elliott does not let his guard down. This ends up in a screaming match between the two, but the fight eventually ends with the pair reconciling. Elliott opens up to Tyrell, stating that he understands how difficult it can be to open up and be close to other people, which is an issue Tyrell has faced with most other people in fsociety.

However, their reconciliation is rather short-lived, as Tyrell gets discovered by a Dark Army operative who ultimately shoots him. However, in an ultimate act of sacrifice, Tyrell refuses to go to a hospital and instead bleeds out in the woods. This is because if he went to a hospital, the Dark Army would find out about Elliott's whereabouts.

Martin Wallström, who brilliantly played the role of Tyrell Wellick, also shared his thoughts about the way his character's story ended in Mr. Robot Season 4.

"Here, we get the missing piece of why Tyrell is so in love with Elliot: it’s that he just doesn’t care. Tyrell doesn’t have to be someone for Elliot. Elliot turns out to be almost an idol, someone Tyrell wishes he was, that he didn’t have to care about what other people think of him, to fit into this frame that he created for himself and his wife, all of it. Elliot stands for all the freedom that Tyrell really wants."

Season 4 of Mr. Robot ended back in 2019, and all seasons of the show are available to watch on Netflix and Disney Hotstar.
