Murder In A Small Town Season 2 is returning with a much larger ensemble. While the Canadian series first earned attention for its quiet pace and small-town suspense, it’s clear the show is ready to grow beyond just a romantic procedural. Murder In A Small Town Season 2 has brought in three new actors—Marci T. House from Tracker, Bethany Brown from Watson, and Joshua Close from Fargo.

Each of them arrives with past roles that already have strong fanbases behind them, and their characters are being introduced at a time when the town’s police department is dealing with new complications, including understaffing and deeper cases.

Fox and Global are clearly backing Murder In A Small Town Season 2 with more time and story this season, and that includes digging into personal histories. This isn’t just a new cast for the sake of it; every one of them has a reason for being here. Their roles are already changing the show’s direction.

Season 2 of Murder In A Small Town isn’t just bringing back the usual suspects. It’s building a broader world, and that means adding new people with new stories. Marci T. House (Tracker), Bethany Brown (Watson), and Joshua Close (Fargo) are the latest to join the cast. Each plays a very different character, and they’re not just there for background; they’re shaping how this season plays out.

Their additions come as the show expands from its quieter first season, where the focus stayed mainly on Chief Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland) and librarian Cassandra Lee (Kristin Kreuk). Now, with more episodes ordered, the story is moving past just their relationship.

Marci T. House steps in as Angela Clyburn, the medical examiner. She’s described as blunt, efficient, and completely focused on the work. Angela is recently single and raising a teenage son. While she’s heard of Karl Alberg, she’s never worked with him until now.

The first time she interacts with him professionally is this season, and she has no reason to be impressed by his reputation alone. Her role changes how investigations unfold in the show, bringing in more detail and depth through forensics. Unlike the first season, which leaned more on interviews and observation, Season 2 will feature more technical investigations, and Angela is central to that shift.

Bethany Brown plays Corporal Laila Jackson, a former Minneapolis officer who already knows Karl from her time there. She was working on becoming a detective before transferring to Gibsons.

On the outside, Laila seems warm, confident, and sharp. But she’s dealing with a lot beneath the surface. A recovering alcoholic, she’s been working with the local department for a few months and already finds herself under pressure. Staffing shortages in town have left her overworked, and the emotional toll is starting to build.

Laila’s presence brings two things to the show: someone with a connection to Karl’s past and someone who may not stay balanced as the job gets harder. The show hasn’t had a character like her before, and that gives the writers space to explore topics like burnout and recovery without making her a side story.

Joshua Close joins as Todd, a homeless man who spends most of his time at the town library. Todd looks rough, but he’s not dangerous, at least not at first glance. He reads constantly and knows more than most people expect. But things take a turn when he ends up tied to a violent incident in town.

His involvement sparks a new case and forces the police to figure out whether he’s a witness, a suspect, or something in between. Todd’s story pulls Cassandra, the librarian, into the fold in a new way. Her quiet bond with him is tested when the town starts asking questions.

All three of these characters come in with weight in Murder In A Small Town Season 2. They’re here to stay, and they’re about to make Karl’s already complicated life a lot more difficult.
