Murder In A Small Town Season 2 is all set to premiere on Fox on September 23, 2025. The crime drama debuted in 2024 and soon achieved a dedicated fan following with its twisted cases.

Based on author L. R. Wright’s The Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries, the series revolves around Karl Alberg, a city detective who arrives in the idyllic town of Gibsons to take a break from high-stakes cases. However, he soon realizes that the town is hiding some mysteries, which once again draws him into the world of criminal investigation.

In the sophomore season, Karl will be working on some new and intriguing cases and will once again be supported by his love interest, Cassandra Lee. Here are all the details you need about the upcoming season.

Murder In A Small Town Season 2 will premiere on Fox on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. New episodes of the show will be aired at 8 PM ET / PT. The season is going to feature 10 episodes, two more than the first installment. The episodes will be released for streaming on Hulu a day after their television premiere.

The plot details of Murder In A Small Town Season 2

The second season will pick up after the events of the previous chapter’s finale, where Karl and Cassandra decided to be together and kissed each other after an on-and-off romance. As the two work on a new set of cases, they will also have to face new challenges in their relationship.

Meanwhile, Cassandra is thinking of running for the council, and her campaign could form another important plot point this season. Meanwhile, Karl would still not be able to catch a break as he has to investigate mysteries ranging from a double kidnapping to a murder at a wedding. The official synopsis of Murder In A Small Town Season 2 reads:

“In the second season, Karl’s jurisdiction expands and he will have to contend with an increased caseload and limited resources, investigating cases like a body found at a local wedding between members of two feuding families; a double kidnapping that may mask an even bigger crime; a pop star who retreated to Gibsons for a quiet vacation only to be followed by a dangerous stalker; and many more.”

The main cast members are reprising their roles in the new season. These include Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg, Kristin Kreuk as Cassandra Lee, Aaron Douglas as Sergeant Sid Sokolowski, Dakota Guppy as Holly Alberg, Mya Lowe as Corporal Edwina Yen, Fritzy-Klevans Destine as Constable Andy Kendrick, and Savonna Spracklin as Isabella Harbud.

Meanwhile, there have been some new additions to the cast. Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden has joined the show as Mayor Christie Holman, who is set to pose a challenge for Karl and Cassandra.

Fargo actor Joshua Close will play a homeless man named Todd; The Flash actress Bethany Brown will star as Corporal Laila Jackson, who previously worked with Karl in Minneapolis; and Ivy + Bean actress Marci T. House will portray Angela Clyburn, a medical examiner. Here is the full list of cast:
