My mind is made up that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cares more about drama than real struggles

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2 premiered on May 15, 2025, and attracted many viewers. With Mormon mom influencers featured in the show, it has become quite a renowned reality show with its debut season.

However, it might not be what everyone expected. Many female-centric shows deliver powerful messages and inspire other women to achieve new things.

With The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, viewers have been expecting to see various aspects of the Mormon influencers, including their faith, family, and struggles. But the show has been more focused on drama, which might not be what the fans have been expecting.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: More drama and chaos instead of overcoming struggles, and family dynamics

With the release of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' second season, viewers have been expecting to witness more of the influencers' struggles and how they overcome those. Rather than focusing on that, the show focuses more on exploiting the struggles in the name of entertainment.

Based on what the show was supposed to stand for, which was the struggles of social media influencers, specifically Mormon moms, and how they navigate through their lives. But, after witnessing what actually featured on the show, it was more dramatic than expected.

The debut episode of the second season made one thing very clear: it was all about dramatic voiceovers, side-eyes, slammed doors, and heavy music. It clearly states that the show's makers are more focused on the drama than the depth of the storylines.

For instance, fans must be aware of what happened with the Taylor Frankie Paul incident. Being a rising MomTok star, she was amid the "soft-swinging" scandal. It should have been approached while keeping many things in mind. On the contrary, it was filled with rumors, awkward group confrontations, and whispers all around.

Another storyline was Jessi Ngatikura and Demi Engemann's friendship. There were many aspects to that, and how they became bitter enemies. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives should have focused on what happened between the two and gotten to the context of it.

They could have shown the friendship dynamics, emotional boundaries, and what happened after their fallout. It could have been a platform to discuss the impact of their friendship ending and their personal relationships.

Then there was Jen Affleck's mental health. Instead of giving her space to overcome emotional strain, she chose to walk away from the cameras. Even when the influencers' lives are in focus, sometimes, it is necessary to give them space so that they can feel comfortable with the things they are going through.

When she revealed her mental health and how she has been under high pressure, it was shocking. Instead of giving her some space, it also turned into a dramatic plot twist on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Even after signing to be on such a reality show where incidents from their lives are featured, the show makers should have the decency to allow them their personal space and showcase specific incidents without misinterpreting the context.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2 is now streaming on Hulu.
