Among the dramatic adventure shows is Nautilus, which reimagines the early life of Captain Nemo, a famous character from the classic 1870 science-fiction novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas by Jules Verne. This show acts as a kind of prequel, exploring how Nemo became who he is. The creator behind this new take is James Dormer.
The story kicks off in 1857, a period when the British East India Mercantile Company wasn’t just trading goods. It was practically running parts of the world. With its own army and navy, the company acted more like a private empire than a business, using its power to take over lands, drain resources, and exploit local people.
The show doesn’t shy away from showing how brutal and greedy this system really was, built on force and control. At the center of the story is Captain Nemo, once an Indian prince, now a prisoner stripped of his identity by the British-run Company.
Separated from his family and forced into harsh labor, he’s made to help build the Nautilus, a submarine meant for exploration but twisted into a weapon of war. Curious to know more about this character and who else stars in this show?

2) Georgia Flood plays Humility Lucas
Humility is the daughter of a British engineer who finds herself on the Nautilus after being taken hostage. At first, it seems like she’s just there as a tool for negotiation, but she quickly shows that she’s smart and capable. Thanks to her mechanical skills and quick thinking, she earns the crew’s respect and becomes an important member of the team.
Many viewers compare her to Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean because she’s brave, intelligent, and knows how to handle herself in tough situations. The actress who plays her, Georgia Flood, has also acted in shows like Anzac Girls and Apples Never Fall.

4) Jacob Collins-Levy plays Captain Youngblood
After Nemo sinks his ship, Captain Youngblood is ordered by the East India Company to hunt down the rogue submarine. This puts him in direct conflict with Nemo. Collins-Levy also appeared in The Witcher: Blood Origin.
