Even after a collapsed lung and a brain injury that would undoubtedly leave an impact, Lalal fights through it all and survives. In the very first episode, the anticipation of knowing about her survival ends. The manner in which her survival is depicted truly leaves a lasting impact. It cannot be denied that seeing Lala and Gibbs’ relationship blossom in the first season was a visual treat.
In the end, we know that Gibbs ends up marrying Diane. Hence, Lala’s survival was truly hanging by a thread. After the crash, Lala needed intense physical therapy before she could return to work. Gibbs did not visit Lala after she was in the hospital. He was heavily impacted by Lala’s situation. So, he tried to evade the issue.
NCIS: Origins Season 2, episode 1, also reveals that Gibbs has now started dating someone else. When Lala returns to work, she finds out about Gibbs’ relationship with Diane. The case gets further intriguing when a man wearing similar shoes is found in the house of the old woman. The man begins to flee after seeing Gibbs and Lala. The man’s name is Lee Fabian, and it can be understood that he has some connection with Thomas’s case.
The first episode of NCIS: Origins Season 2 ends up Lala and Gibbs’ relationship in a complicated state. Lalal also indicates that Gibbs’s nature is too complex for her. Though there is a distinct level of chemistry between the two of them, a hope remains that two of them could be together in the future.
