The fourth episode of NCIS: Origins Season 2 begins with a flashback scene depicting Mike and his brother, Mason’s, past. It is revealed that the two of them fought in Vietnam, and the memory is definitely not a good one for them. This scene also shows Mike’s brother, Mason, struggling with finances. He gets beaten up by men because he owed money to the wrong kind of people.
So, to fix his troubles, Mason decides to visit his brother. They have not met each other for thirteen years. Reconnecting with his brother is definitely not an easy task for him. He had to swallow his pride. Mason had no other choice. As the episode progresses, some flashback scenes about their time in Vietnam are shown.

It is revealed that Mike used drugs during his time in Vietnam. He could not cope with the challenging atmosphere. Mason tried his best to help Mike. However, he could not do anything. Mason tries to speak to Mike about his issue. Just as he is about to speak to Mike about the problem, Mike gets an emergency call. The scene cuts to a bank robbery where Gibbs begins the investigation into the case.
On his way to the crime scene, Mike takes Lala along with him in his car. They get the information that the criminals were running away in a dark blue Dodge Caravan. Before they reached the location, the car the criminals were using to run away passed by them.
Seeing that, Mike began to chase the car. However, right as soon as the car chase began, Lala became uncomfortable. As the speed of the car increased, she began to have a panic attack. Seeing Lala’s troubled state, Mike decides to stop chasing the car. He helps Lala calm down instead. The car escapes, and they are not able to catch it.
After the unsuccessful car chase, Mike returns home. Mason finally begins to tell Mike about the issue he is facing. Their mother sold the ranch when they were off to Vietnam; she received a fair price, but it was a handshake agreement. The agreement noted that she would be able to work on the land.
Their mother wanted Mason to buy the ranch back, but he was unable to do so. He then finally reveals that he owes money to the wrong people, and the handshake deal that their mother made is of no value now. He asks Mike if he could help him buy some time so that he is able to give them a proper offer, so that he does not get evicted.
Mike also gets a call from the criminal who robbed the bank. This criminal called the station and got Mike’s home number by faking his identity. Mary Jo got in trouble because of this, as a rumor spread of her incompetence as she shared the number. A flashback scene shows that Mike was thrown out of his house by Mason because of his drug addiction.
Mason did not want Mike’s drug issue to affect their mother further. Mike then asks Gibbs for Diane’s help to sort out Mason’s issue. This episode of NCIS: Origins Season 2 gets further intense when the team finds the dead body of one of the robbers.
After Diane’s arrival, Mason and Mike were hopeful that she would be able to help them with the ranch. However, Mason informs Mike that she will not be able to do anything about the ranch, and he will have to leave the place. Mike completely breaks down and begins to blame Mason for throwing him out of the house, for which he was not able to say goodbye to his mother when she died.
However, Mason tells him that their mother was sick before Mike was out of the house. Mike’s drug issue prevented him from noticing that his mother was sick. Hearing Mason’s words, Mike finally understands the whole situation.

As the episode of NCIS: Origins Season 2 progresses, Mike finally understands that the caller was the person from the Meyers case. The whole team quickly reaches his house and arrests him. This episode of NCIS: Origins ends with Mike and Mason finally reconciling.
