Ahead of the NCIS Season 23 premiere, we have some interesting updates about the upcoming season. At the centre of the story is Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole), reeling from a family tragedy. This grief and pain will shape his arc in NCIS Season 23. Expect some flashback sequences that will showcase Alden's childhood and his complex relationship with his father.

NCIS Season 22 ended with Alden Parker's father, Roman, being killed by Carla Marino, the true leader of the Nexus cartel. Turns out it was personal vengeance and not a professional one. Carla blames Alden for her son Jason's death, who died in a motorcycle accident. According to Carla, after Alden informed her son about her illegal activities, her son died while he was trying to flee.

As per the NCIS Season 23 Episode 1 "Prodigal Son" synopsis, Alden Parker is set to take revenge for his father's death. He will be seen tracking down mob boss Carla Marino, whom he feels was responsible for his father's death. However, in the process, he might put his life at risk along with that of his team members.

NCIS Season 23 features Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Katrina Law, Brian Dietzen, Gary Cole, Rocky Carroll, and Diona Reasonover. Apart from that, Nancy Travis has been roped in to play Alden Parker's sister, Harriet Parker.

NCIS Season 23: A sneak peek into Alden Parker's childhood, his connection with Carla Marino, and more

NCIS Season 23 promises intense rivalries and action with Alden Parker locked in an intense chase for Carla, his father's murderer. But before we dive straight to the chase, the series will also delve into Alden's childhood days. We will get a sneak peek into his teenage years when he wasn't this NCIS agent but a troublesome kid, one who loved breaking the law. Naturally, his bond with his father was complex. He got into trouble and caused loads of problems for his family. Of course, he is quite ashamed of his behavior now, but it did leave a stain on his familial bonds, especially with his sister.

Additionally, his team will consist of Timothy McGee, Nick Torres, Jessica Knight, and Jimmy Palmer will have to make a choice. Either to help Alden chase down his father's killer or obey the higher authorities' orders not to interfere and keep an eye on Alden? As per TV Insider's latest preview images, it looks like the team, or at least Torres and Knight, will help Alden in his mission.

Not to forget, the mystery of Alden's mother's original death certificate still lingers, especially since Palmer found some inaccuracies in the autopsy that might complicate matters further. Adding to the complications is the complex and conflicting relationship between Director Leon Vance with Alden Parker.

Speaking to TV Insider, Steven B. Binder (EP) said that apart from Alden Parker's storyline, each character will have their own separate arcs.

"NCIS on fire. At various points, they’re all going to have their explosive moments.”

Apart from Alden Parker's storyline, Timothy McGee will face a shocking family revelation. Torres will reenter the dating scene, sparking turmoil. Knight will join NCIS Elite, but the opportunity will implode in an emotionally charged way. Kasie, on the other hand, will finally step out of the lab and prove her grit, which might cause trouble for her. With high-stakes cases, tangled romances, and raw emotions, NCIS Season 23 promises to deliver a gripping and intense storyline.
