CBS's long-running military police procedural came home to Tuesday with the NCIS Season 23 premiere on October 14.
The premiere began in the aftermath of the NCIS Season 22 finale, where Agent Parker discovered his father's dead body, and thus began the search for his killer, Carla Marino. Parker heroically announced that it's time for the team to 'flip the table' in the trailer. The NCIS team has gone rogue and wild in Parker's pursuit of vengeance and fans are loving every bit of it.
NCIS Season 23 Episode 2 will air on CBS on October 21 and will conclude Parker's struggle to get justice for his father. The upcoming episode will feature a deadly face-off between the NCIS agent and his father's killer.
NCIS Season 23 features the return of the iconic main cast, including Sean Murray, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen, Wilmer Valderrama, Gary Cole, and Katrina Law.

NCIS Season 23 Episode 2: Release and streaming details
NCIS Season 23 Episode 2, titled 'Prodigal Son (Part II),' will air on CBS on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. A day later, you can also stream the episode on Paramount+, CBS's official streaming partner.
The network's military police procedural started with its iconic Tuesday slot but eventually pivoted to Mondays at 9/8c since Season 19. However, much to fans' excitement, the show is back to its original time slot, Tuesdays at 8/7c. You can enjoy a complete NCIS lineup, as Season 23 will be followed by the new seasons of NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney.
Since the cancelation of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International on CBS, the network has made some changes to its Fall 2025-2026 lineup, which will be duly applied to all its shows.
What happened in the NCIS Season 23 premiere?
The NCIS Season 23 premiere was a nail-biting entry, which kicked off in the aftermath of Agent Parker's father's death. Thanks to multiple leads, the team discovered Carla was aboard a ship containing weapons and drugs, which had already left for open water. However, before the team could have taken any further action, they learned that Parker had managed to board the ship with Carla.
The final moments of the premiere saw Harriet informing the team that she had received direct orders to take the ship out, as it is a threat to their country and should not leave for international waters. She orders to fire away at the vessel and the episode ends on this deadly cliffhanger.

Since the upcoming episode is a continuation of the Season 23 premiere, it will continue Agent Parker's quest to avenge his father's death from Carla. The deadly cliffhanger suggests that Parker is willing to go to extreme lengths to catch his father's killer, even if it means putting his life in danger.
While Parker's fate was hanging in the balance when we left him in the NCIS Season 23 premiere, he will likely emerge unharmed. Since Gary Cole is not expected to exit the military procedural anytime soon, Parker will be in safe hands. However, it remains to be seen how he will catch Carla and bring justice to his father.
