In a major announcement, Tony Tony Chopper, voiced by Mikaela Hoover, was revealed to be a brand new addition to the crew of the second season, and the weird talking animal, along with introducing itself, also announced the 2026 premiere shyly. One Piece author Eiichiro Oda also shared a message regarding the upcoming One Piece Season 2 and Tony Tony Chopper's role in it:

"The live-action One Piece! The key to season 2 is, of course, our weird talking animal. After extensive trial and refinement by the entire team, the day has come to finally unveil him!! From his form and furs to his expressions and voice, and even lighting and gravity simulation— a world-class team brought their skills together in bringingTony Tony Chopper to life, and now he’s ready to be introduced to the world!!"

Voice actor Mikaela Hoover talked about Chopper's character in One Piece Season 2 and what excited her about playing him:

"What excited me about playing Chopper is the tug of war between his standoffishness and his huge heart. He tries so hard to hide his emotions and put on a tough exterior, but underneath, he’s a big softy, and his love can’t help but come out. I believe there is a little Chopper in all of us, we all want to be loved and accepted. We go to great lengths to keep the people that we love safe. There’s a purity to his nature that reminds us of what’s good in the world."

Apart from Chopper, One Piece Season 2 will also witness Iñaki Godoy's return as Monkey D. Luffy, along with Emily Rudd's Nami, Mackenyu Arata's Zoro, Taz Skylar's Sanji, and Jacob Romero Gibson's Usopp. During the One Piece event, all of these actors took to the stage to celebrate the production wrap, and to give a sneak peek at the cute little talking animal in the giant top hat who's going to be joining the live-action series.

It will be extremely exciting to witness the straw hats getting back to the sea in One Piece Season 2 with writer, executive-producer, and co-showrunner Matt Owen in 2026.
