Combs is currently serving time in federal prison. Viewers may see a depiction of Combs’ rise through Bad Boy Entertainment, where he was known for his ambition and work.Diddy was also involved in talent scouting, leaving a major impact on hip-hop’s expansion into mainstream pop culture. He played a central role in launching the careers of artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, and Danity Kane. The documentary will also include accounts from his former associates, who may speak about the controversy that developed over the years.Much of this resurfaced after Casandra Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023. According to Netflix Tudum, the documentary director Stapleton maintained,“This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial. Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being."Stapleton says Ventura’s lawsuit made her consider how much the culture has changed in how it processes allegations against powerful figures. She describes the documentary as a mirror held up to the public, asking viewers to reflect on celebrity worship and accountability.More details on Sean Combs: The ReckoningThe documentary titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning will also feature interviews with many people who knew Sean closely.
