Netflix has released the two-minute trailer for Can This Love Be Translated? just two weeks before its official release. From the clips, viewers can expect the perfect mix of romance and fun. At times, there are intense moments where the main leads struggle to express their love for each other, adding twists to the story.

Can This Love Be Translated? is releasing on January 16 on Netflix, making it perfect for the weekend watch if you're looking for a lighthearted and feel-good Korean drama. Created by Hong Jung-eun, Hong Mi-ran, and Yoo Young-eun, the drama features Kim Seon-ho, Go Youn-jung, Sota Fukushi, Lee E-Dam, and Choi Woo-sung in the main cast.

The series revolves around a popular actress, Cha Mu-hee, as she joins a dating TV show, and a translator, Joo Ho-jin, who helps her with her conversation with Hiro during the show.

Its official synopsis on Netflix reads:

"The emotions of a celebrity and her interpreter get lost in translation as they travel the world filming a TV show. Will love find its own language?"

What does the 'Can This Love Be Translated?' trailer reveal?

The trailer of Can This Love Be Translated? start with Joo Ho-jin, a character played by Kim Seon-ho, walking into the airport with his luggage. In another clip, he tells Cha Mu-hee that he only reads French, Italian, and English flyers, only to be called Papago by Mu-hee. Papago is a translation app by Naver, where users can translate text, images, documents, and websites. It was a playful reference by Mu-hee, who noticed Ho-jin doing the same thing.

There are also clips where Mu-hee uploads Ho-jin's photo on social media without his permission and asks him to come with her, which will give him the opportunity to see the Northern Lights, making him laugh.

Mu-hee joins the cast of the dating TV show after getting popular, thanks to her role in The Quiet Woman, for which she also gets recognition at multiple film festivals, including the Venice Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival.

In the show, she meets Hiro, whom she calls:

"Japan's ultimate romantic prince."

Viewers will see Ho-jin becoming her translator for the show, which brings them closer.

However, this was not the first time Mu-hee and Ho-jin had met, as they had crossed paths in Japan before when Mu-hee was not well-known in the entertainment industry, making this their second meeting.

Mu-hee, as a cast member, does a romantic trip shoot in different destinations across the world with Hiro, a character played by Sôta Fukushi, who eventually confesses his liking for her. Since he is Japanese and Mu-hee is Korean, she couldn't understand what he said and asked Ho-jin to translate it for her, leaving him nervous.

While helping the show's cast with their conversations and feelings, Ho-jin eventually finds himself caught up in his own feelings for Mu-hee. The trailer also showed clips where Ho-jin realizes that he doesn't understand Mu-hee's language very well, referring to her feelings.

Netflix, explaining the character of Ho-jin in a Tudum article, stated that he:

"Prefers to deal with the complexities of language rather than his own emotions. He prioritizes exactitude above all else in his work and personal life."

From the trailer, Can This Love Be Translated? hints at a lot of unanswered questions, including how Ho-jin and Mu-hee will overcome the obstacles between them, how Mu-hee will respond to Hiro when he confesses his love, and whether Ho-jin will finally admit his own feelings. At one point, Mu-hee even says she’s ruined everything, promising many surprises and emotional twists.

Netflix also gave a brief about what viewers can expect from their love story in Can This Love Be Translated?:

"At times, they let each other in; at others, they run into walls. Ho-jin can interpret various languages with ease, yet finds Mu-hee’s heart the hardest to read. While Mu-hee, though loved by fans around the world, struggles with expressing her own love."

Can This Love Be Translated? will be released on January 16 on Netflix.
