Assassin’s Creed live-action has an exciting new update. According to a Deadline report, Tanzyn Crawford has joined the cast as a series regular in Netflix’s upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed series.

The game series from Ubisoft is one of its long-running and bestselling video game franchises. The actor was popularly known for her role in HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Crawford previously starred in many projects across television.

Crawford joins already confirmed leads Toby Wallace and Lola Petticrew. Zachary Hart and Laura Marcus are also part of the ensemble. Netflix has not disclosed details about her character. Sources suggest the role is an original creation rather than one lifted directly from the games.

Crawford joins a talented ensemble consisting of industry names such as Toby Wallace, Lola Petticrew, and Zachary Hart. Along with them, Laura Marcus also features in the show as a series regular.

As with live-action adaptations, details on her role and character are now under tight wraps. But, according to buzz, Netflix adaptations are expected to be original creations rather than a mirror image of the video games.

The project places Crawford back on a strong stage. She is also featured in one of the grand projects from HBO titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This show will be a prequel set in the Game of Thrones universe.

Crawford will assume the character of Tanselle, marking her as a series-regular part in a major franchise-backed drama. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, premieres on January 18 and has already been renewed for a second season.

Crawford first rose to prominence with her Hulu 2023 limited series Tiny Beautiful Things. Here, she played the daughter of Kathryn Hahn, who was also the central character.

That same year, she appeared in a guest feature on Apple TV+’s psychological thriller Servant. Apart from these, she was also a part of the Australian crime drama Swift Street, starring opposite Cliff Curtis.

The streaming giant has hinted that Assassin’s Creed will be a high-octane thriller that centers on the franchise’s central mythology. As per the mythology, the story entails a long-standing conflict between two opposing factions: one that wants to steer humanity's future through coercion and the other committed to defending free will.

The viewers will be launched into key historical moments giving them an immersive experience of times passed. Production is currently targeting a 2026 start, with Italy confirmed as a primary filming location and narrative setting.

But like the location, the exact historical period is not yet revealed. Italy holds a significant place within the Assassin’s Creed canon, most famously as the backdrop for the Renaissance-era storyline featuring Ezio Auditore. No official confirmation is available on whether and how much of the mythology from that video game will be picked.
