Crew Girl, a coming-of-age series, is soon coming to Netflix. In recent years, Netflix has released a number of coming-of-age or YA shows revolving around teenagers, their struggles, mental health, and love lives. For instance, Ginny & Georgia, My Life with the Walter Boys, and Heartstopper have been hits for the platform, given that many of its viewers are young adults or teenagers.
It seems Netflix is going to be bringing out yet another coming-of-age series about a teenager with a messy life. As Deadlie reported, Crew Girl has been greenlit by Netflix. The show is written by Vivian Lin, stars Miku Martineau as the protagonist, and has started production in Victoria, British Columbia.
About Crew Girl
As any coming-of-age or YA drama goes, Crew Girl will be following the hardships of a teenager, in this case, Teagan, played by Miku Martineau. Teagan goes to East Coast Prep School, an elite school, but that is not her main challenge. She comes face-to-face with her main challenge when she is made the coxswain of a rowing team that has only boys except her.
On top of that, the team is barely functional, and thus leading them poses a difficult challenge for Teagan. In classic coming-of-age style, Teagan shares quite a complicated relationship with her mother, Ella, who is played by Jessica Paré.

If that wasn't enough to handle for one school year, she has to deal with rivalry, romantic relationships, and friends who do not have her back. Teagan just hopes she can not only win the races but also fix all the other problems that do not seem to let her have a peaceful life.
Other than Martineau and Paré, the rest of the cast includes Samuel Braun as Josh, Kyle Clark as Cam, and Thomas Cadrot as Coach Hayden. Crew Girl will be produced by Great Pacific Media. Vivian Lin is not only the writer of the show but also the showrunner and an executive producer. Lin is also known for being the showrunner and producer of Popularity Papers, the writer behind Killjoys, and the supervising producer for SkyMed and The Lake. Other executive producers of Crew Girl are Jeff Norton, Lindsay Macadam, Lori Massini, Tony Chung, and Hillary Zwick Turner.
This is Miku Martineau's third project with Netflix, after she recently starred as Yumeko in the live-action series of the manga, Kakegurui-The Compulsive Gambler, called Bet, and as Ani in Kate (2021). Her other roles include playing Christine in Honor Society (2022), Amy Fitzgerald in Ruby and the Well (2022), and Young Philippa Georgiou in Star Trek: Section 31. Jessica Paré's notable roles include Megan Calvet Draper in Mad Men, Officer Amanda Ellis in SEAL Team, and Courtney Benedict in Jack and Bobby.
There has been no confirmation by Netflix about the show's release. It is currently in production, but no other updates have been given by Netflix yet. Stay tuned for more information.
