Alfie Allen joins 3 Body Problem Season 2

Alfie Allen, known for his role as Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, has officially joined the cast of Netflix's 3 Body Problem season 2. He has been confirmed to take on a recurring role. This marks a reunion with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who co-created 3 Body Problem alongside Alexander Woo.

Allen is one of a trio of newcomers to the cast, along with David Yip, best known for The Chinese Detective, and Wonder Pets' Jordan Sunshine. This influx of new cast members widens the current cast further, with production now in Budapest.

Alfie Allen's previous works

Alfie Allen is best known globally for playing Theon Greyjoy in eight seasons of Game of Thrones. He also has a career in the movies, John Wick and Jojo Rabbit, and the Dutch television drama series Safe Harbor. 3 Body Problems' partnership with Allen continues the series' practice of attracting accomplished actors from the cast of other hit shows.

Additional new and returning cast members

3 Body Problem season 2 welcomes Claudia Doumit and Ellie De Lange as regular newcomers. Doumit will play Captain Van Rijn, and De Lange will play Ayla. In addition to the new cast members, several first-season cast members will be returning.

These include Jess Hong as Jin, Benedict Wong as Da Shi, Eiza González as Auggie, Jovan Adepo as Saul, Saamer Usmani as Raj, Liam Cunningham as Wade, Marlo Kelly as Tatiana, Sea Shimooka as Sophon, and Josh Brener as Kent. This combination of new and familiar actors will go on to map the 3 Body Problem universe as the overall story unravels.

Production details and setting

Production for the 3 Body Problem Season 2 recently commenced in Budapest, Hungary. The leadership of the show remains unchanged, with David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo at the helm. The show is based on the globally recognized novels of Cixin Liu, where it explores humanity's encounter with an extraterrestrial community known as the San-Ti.

The series combines drama and science fiction, tracing the effects of contact with extraterrestrial life and how humanity reacts to this apocalyptic threat. The series also features a range of diverse executive producers with differing backgrounds in the industry.

The story of 3 Body Problem so far

3 Body Problem is inspired by Cixin Liu's best-selling science fiction novels. The series focuses on the consequences of initial contact with an alien civilization and how the world prepares for the threat of invasion.

The first season of the show established these topics through characters revealed in various time frames, such as scientists and administrators dealing with the failure of the natural laws and the threat from the cosmos.

3 Body Problem season 2 will pick up on this story, looking at how the human species reacts as the alien invasion looms, both on Earth and possibly further afield.

With another Game of Thrones star joining the fold, 3 Body Problem is fast becoming a cosmic reunion of Westeros.
