If you thought Christina Ricci was the only Addams Family icon to play a role in Wednesday, you would be surprised to see a certain somebody in season two, part one's second episode, The Devil You Woe, which came out on 6th August 2025. The episode featured Nevermore's annual Prank Day, and along with that, Professor Orloff, whose first words are,

''I detest Prank Day.''

Professor Orloff is played by Christopher Lloyd, who portrayed Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (1991) and The Addams Family Values (1993).

Christopher Lloyd in Wednesday season two

Christopher Lloyd plays Professor Orloff in Wednesday season two, who, as Tudum by Netflix describes, is,

... Nevermore’s longest-serving teacher. A stern disciplinarian, Orloff prowls the school hallways, always on the lookout for troublemakers. It doesn’t take long for Pugsley Addams to end up on his radar.

Professor Orloff's first appearance in season two's second episode, The Devil You Woe is short, but it establishes that he has been at Nevermore for a long time. He appears at the courtyard of the school with Principal Dort on the school's annual Prank Day, where all the students are busy pranking each other. Earlier in the episode, we see Enid prank Wednesday by pretending to be dead. We see Professor Orloff right after Ajax pranks Eugene and Pugsley with his Medusa-like hair, turning them into stone.

Professor Orloff does not appear like any other staff member, in a human body. Instead, we see only his head, kept in a solution inside what resembles a bell jar, supported by wheels he can control. While Principal Dort expresses his excitement about Prank Day, Professor Orloff sternly expresses his detest. We soon see why he feels that way when he says,

''Last year, someone put eels in my jar.''

Next, we see Wednesday approach them and, after some small talk, she asks Principal Dort,

''One quick question before you go. Are you aware of any student or member of staff who can control birds?''

When Professor Orloff responds,

''You mean an Avian? Why do you ask?''

Wednesday asked the question in the first place because of her suspicions regarding the recent murders. Two murders have taken place in season two already, one of a private investigator, Carl Bradbury, and the other of his friend, the former sheriff, Donovan Galpin, who is also Tyler's father. As Donovan told Wednesday, they were

''... working a case together, and that's what got him killed.''

In both cases, they were killed by a crow attack, which makes Wednesday think that someone who can control birds is behind the murders. But to avoid letting anyone in on her investigation, she makes up an excuse, saying,

''I'm working on a project about underrepresented outcasts.''

Professor Orloff answers her question by saying,

''We haven't had an Avian enrolled for at least ten years.''

This does not help Wednesday as it makes it much harder for her to find the killer. The episode continues as she carries on with her investigation. But this first scene shows us that Professor Orloff has been at Nevermore for a long time and knows its history well. He is going to be an important character this season, we just how to see how after part two is released on 3rd September.

Wednesday, season two, part one, is now streaming on Netflix.
