Stephen Amell's Suits LA might have tapped out early, but Netflix has the power to lift the actor's 2021 wrestling drama series Heels back into the spotlight.
Heels is a sports drama series that ran for two seasons (2021-2023) on Starz and follows the Spade brothers as they wrestle against each other in scripted matches over their late father's wrestling promotion and national attention in their town of Georgia. The show stars Stephen Amell and Vikings fame Alexander Ludwig in the lead roles of Jack and Ace Spade, respectively.
In a recent interview with The Playlist, Heels' creator and executive producer Michael Waldron addressed the possibility of a revival, following Netflix's acquisition of the show's rights in 2024. Waldron hopes to see a 'Suits' moment for his 2021 drama series on Netflix soon:
“Never say never. Almost everyone who saw it loved it. Maybe it just needs its ‘Suits’ moment.”

Can Heels get its 'Suits’ moment' on Netflix? Speculations explored
USA Network's legal drama series Suits thrived with its Netflix debut in 2023. While the drama series was already well-received, thanks to its impressive ensemble cast, intense courtroom scenes and witty one-liners, it found breakthrough success after its Netflix debut.
As Netflix revealed, Suits saw record-breaking viewership numbers and a large Global audience base, which has forever immortalized the show in the legal genre. Suits' newfound (and delayed) success is what shows and creators dream about and Waldron is certainly wishing the same fate for Heels.
After Netflix acquired the show's rights from Starz in April 2024, all eyes are on this underrated professional wrestling series gem. Waldron certainly believes in the power of his sports drama series and hopes that it will get a revival on the streaming juggernaut.
Netflix began reruns of the two seasons from September 2024, following which, new audiences discovered and loved the show. While Netflix is yet to report Heels' success on the platform, it has done better than its original run. While it could not match Suits' newfound success, it is enough for Netflix to consider a revival series.
Additionally, Netflix is currently in its experimental phase and building a strong wrestling portfolio with live streams of WWE Monday Night RAW every week, wrestling-related shows like Wrestlers and documentaries like Mr. McMahon. Waldron's show perfectly fits the platform's wrestling library and a revival could work wonders among Netflix's established wrestling audience.
Stephen Amell's star power can benefit Heels' revival
In addition to Netflix showing keen interest in Heels, the revival can also benefit from Stephen Amell's star power.
It was quite ironic that Suits' newfound popularity paved the way for Amell's debut as Ted Black in the spin-off series Suits LA, but it was canceled after one season. While this was tragic for the spin-off series, it has led to a newfound popularity for the actor, who became the face of the spin-off show.
Mike and Harvey's impressive chemistry and their bromance were just too iconic to be replaced in a spin-off series, which eventually led to its cancelation, but fans appreciated Amell's performance. Amell's Ted Black was certainly a strong character and had the potential for more.
Additionally, Amell's love for professional wrestling found a creative outlet through his Heel's character and fans loved the actor's portrayal. After Amell's failed stint in Suits LA, Netflix should utilise his talent and star power for a Heels revival.
