The Witcher Season 4 clip finds Geralt in a fight scene

The Witcher Season 4 has mainly been shrouded in controversy since Henry Cavill decided to step away from the Netflix series and Liam Hemsworth to take over the role of Geralt of Rivia in his place. However, now that we're less than a week away from The Witcher Season 4 release, more details about the upcoming season are emerging, forcing fans to build up their anticipation for the upcoming season.

The latest clip from Netflix shows Liam Hemsworth's Geralt taking on multiple men in a fight scene. While this is just one of the many times that the season is going to find Geralt in action, the particular scene does seem to signal a transformation in Geralt's character.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich, in a recent conversation with RadioTimes, talks about the change in Geralt's character in the fourth season. The one thing that defines Geralt is his decision not to involve himself in the matters of men. Being a witcher, he fights monsters, not men.

"I think that Geralt as a character, has made this decision to not get involved in the matters of men. That's what Witchers do – they fight monsters. They do not involve themselves with humans."

However, this clip finds Geralt fighting men, symbolizing a shift in his character, where he has to concern himself with matters of humans.

"But we've seen over the seasons that Geralt has shifted quite a bit. Obviously, he met Yennefer, he falls in love. He has this child surprise, who really becomes his daughter in his soul. And you start to see that he realises that he is meshed with humans, even if he didn't intend to be."

Per Hemsworth and Schmidt-Hissrich, when we find Geralt in The Witcher Season 4, he is at a place in his emotional journey where he has to accept change and vulnerability. As Hemsworth explains in a conversation with RadioTimes:

"It's through these other people around him that he sees how much love and care and how much they believe in his journey and his mission right now, that he's able to lean on them and accept that help and he's really able to push forward and find himself again and find a new version of himself."

The Witcher Season 4 is surely going to bring forth a much different Geralt of Rivia than the audience is used to seeing on the show so far, in more ways than just the actor playing him.
