The Harry Potter series, which is set to release on HBO in 2026, has cast its three main protagonists. Dominic McLaughlin is going to play Harry Potter, Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger.
Every Harry Potter fan associates Hermione Granger with Emma Watson because she's the only one who has played the character up till now. However, Arabella is going to be the new face of Hermione Granger. While fans are used to seeing Emma Watson play the character, I think Arabella will do the role justice.

Arabella Stanton will be carrying forward the mantle of Emma Watson in the Harry Potter series
Emma Watson played the role of Hermione Granger from 2001-2011, starring as the young witch in all eight Harry Potter movies. Before playing Hermione, Watson hadn't had much acting experience, but that didn't stop her from becoming a global success. Given how young Arabella Stanton is when she starts her journey as Hermione, the young actress might also be headed for greatness.

Emma Watson, along with her costars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, practically grew up on the sets of Harry Potter. The trio learned how to act from their experience working in the franchise's films. Watson was eleven years old when Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) was released and twenty-one years old when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) came out.
Her years playing the brilliant witch shaped her into a stand-out actor who later starred in Little Women (2019), Beauty and the Beast (2017), and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012).
Arabella Stanton, like Watson, is a young child actor who hasn't had any experience on screen. Stanton is known for playing Matilda in Matilda: The Musical on the West End from 2023 to 2024. Given how playing Hermione Granger is the first on-screen role for Arabella like it was for Watson, it looks like she is going to do a good job.
I hope HBO casts the same actors to play the trio in all the seasons of the show so that we get to see the natural growth of the characters as we did in the movies. If Arabella, much like Emma Watson, is allowed to grow up playing such a monumental character like Hermione Granger for years to come, it will greatly benefit the actress.
I do believe that part of the reason Emma Watson, or even her co-stars, Radcliffe and Grint, did so well in the movies is because they spent a lot of time together on the sets. It made their off-screen bond stronger, which reflected on screen. If the new young actors, McLaughlin, Stout, and Stanton, are allowed the same privilege, I think they will portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione beautifully.
I also believe that the honesty with which the young Emma Watson played Hermione Granger greatly aided in the character's success on screen. Arabella is similarly a young actress full of potential. If she is guided well, I believe she will bring something new yet something familiar to the character of Hermione Granger.
