Recent images and movies available online show the building of huge sets for the upcoming Harry Potter television series. The first look at the audacious scope of the production, which is happening at Leavesden Studios in the UK—the same spot utilized for the original movies, comes from these leaks.

Multiple sources indicate that the sets presently being built feature Platform 9 3/4, the Hogwarts Express, Privet Drive, and the venerable Great Hall. These developments point to HBO's dedication to painstakingly reproducing the wizarding world for a fresh crop of viewers. Starting production in the summer of 2025, the series is set to premiere in 2026.

Building of the Great Hall and other memorable sets

Images shared by YouTuber UnBoxPHD and other sources show the early stages of set construction for the new Harry Potter series. Visible Great Hall's underlying framework with its unique shape developing at the construction site. For Hogwarts pupils in both the novels and movies, this room was the hub of meals and gatherings.

Under development beside the Great Hall is a framework for Diagon Alley, often referred to as the magical shopping street. The show neither employs digital replicas nor uses existing sets. Rather, it's erecting fresh, lasting buildings.

By this method, the show may include sites and scenes from the novels left out of the initial movies. Like the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, the dedication to physical sets hints at the chance of these sites being employed for future seasons or even as tourist destinations.

The Hogwarts Express and Platform 9 3/4

Platform 9 3/4, the magical departure point at King's Cross Station where pupils board the Hogwarts Express, has started building. Construction of the Hogwarts Express itself on the grounds should give scenes including the train trips to and from Hogwarts a designated location.

Supporting the long-term concept for the show, the size of this construction points to the frequent use of these sets across the series.

Privet Drive and expanded storytelling

Leaked pictures also reveal the building of a new Privet Drive set, the suburban house where Harry Potter lived with the Dursley family. Unlike the original movies, which employed existing houses, the Harry Potter TV show is building a bigger, renovated Privet Drive.

This choice lets the show include scenes from the novels that were excluded from the movies, including Harry's early magical incidents and a more thorough goodbye between Harry and the Dursleys. The fresh set captures the producers' desire to delve into the entire depth of the source material and create a more complete adaptation.

Harry Potter TV show: Production timeline and creative approach

Filming for the Harry Potter TV show is slated to start in the summer of 2025 at Leavesden Studios. The showrunners and director have made clear that although they seek to respect the original movies, they will also explore underused Hogwarts sites.

To enable a more in-depth examination of environments and characters, the first season is projected to span eight hours and cover the events of the first novel. As the sets start to form, the cast for the show has been revealed and new developments are still published.

With meticulous attention to detail in both the narrative and the physical environment, the new adaptation is meant to remain faithful to the books.
