A new teaser of Chad Powers, the upcoming sports comedy series created by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, has been released. The series is based on the book of the same name by Eli Manning and is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on September 30, 2025.
As the teaser tells us, Russ Holliday's (played by Glenn Powell) career is over after he makes a huge blunder at a championship match. To start over, as Russ says in the teaser, he's gonna do a
"Mrs. Doutfire."
by taking on a new identity: Chad Powers and joining a college team as a walk-on.
Chad Powers teaser and more
The upcoming show will thus follow football player Russ Holliday as he attempts to revive his career by adopting a new identity. But that is easier said than done. As the teaser shows, Holiday has not only to put on a new disguise but also has a different accent and new prosthetic facial features, and has to maintain a new identity and personality. In the teaser, we see Chad Power say he's from West Virginia, and the way he says it, we know he's making up the story as he goes.
Chad Powers has an interesting accent, doesn't like to take his helmet off, and has the jersey number 200. This new get-up isn't pretty, as a cheerleader says,
"He's, like, extremely ugly."
Regardless, he performs great, making everyone wonder who he is and where he came from. Strangely, someone who plays as well as he does wasn't recruited at first glance, and that is exactly what everyone who watches him wonders. But as Powers, Holiday is not only a football player but also an actor. It is hard to manage both simultaneously, and the show will tell us whether Holiday will be able to pull off this ruse and get away with it till the end.
The show will premiere on Hulu on September 30, 2025, with two episodes. The remaining four episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays until October 28, 2025.
The episodes are:
Episode 1: 1st Quarter
