Development on the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is going steady as Peter Claffey shares an exciting filming update already with fans as they wait for the show's first run. Duing HBO's panel for CCXP in São Paulo, the actor revealed key details about the show's future, including more information about his character and when the series' second season starts production.
Claffey told the audience that on December 9th, production will start as he stated,
“On Tuesday, we start filming season two!”
Although he din't reveal much, it is good news as it indicates that the next season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is coming to fans sooner than they think. Claffey also spoke about his character Ser Duncan the Tall, aka Dunk, and how him and Egg have a symbollic relationship, as he added,
“I don’t know if he’s ‘cool,’ but he’s quite an anxious, nervous but very lovable guy. He just wants to do what’s right. It’s a hard thing to do in Westeros, is try to be that chivalrous knight. Dunk has a very black-and-white idea of how to do things."
Dexter Sol Ansell plays Egg on the show, which is all set to premiere in January next year.
More details about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms adapts Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and is a prequel to the critically acclaimed Game of Thrones. Before the first season even dropped, it was already renewed for a second season, creating a steady future for the franchise ahead of it's premiere.
The official synopsis of the show reads,
A century before the events of "Game of Thrones," two unlikely heroes wander Westeros. In an adaption of George R. R. Martin's novella "The Hedge Knight," a young and naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg, face a series of dangerous exploits. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and images of the last dragon have not yet passed from living memory, great destinies and powerful foes await these improbable and incomparable friends.
The cast is stacked with familiar Westerosi surnames. Joining Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell are Finn Bennett, who brings Aerion Brightflame to life, Bertie Carvel steps in as Baelor Breakspear, Sam Spruell appears as Maekar Targaryen, and Daniel Ings plays Ser Lyonel Baratheon. Tanzyn Crawford plays Tanselle the puppeteer, while Henry Ashton, Edward Ashley, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan Lawlor, and Steve Wall round out the world with Princes, Smiths, Knights, and Lords.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be streaming on HBO Max from January 18,
