Avatar: The Last Airbender is literally bending heaven and Earth to ensure that more seasons are on the way for franchise fans. It hasn't been a minute since Netflix announced that Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 of the show has officially wrapped production, and without any rest for the airbenders, Season 3 is officially in production.
Here's everything we know about the production of the third season of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The live-action remake is already in production for Season 3 ahead of the Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 release
Netflix announced through a cast video that Avatar: The Last Airbender has officially finished production for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, and, surprisingly, without a break, is heading straight into production for Season 3.
The announcement was also accompanied by a reveal of the cast members for the upcoming seasons including Gordon Cormier (Aang), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Kiawentiio (Katara), Miya Cech (Toph), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Uncle Roh), Elizabeth Yu (Azula), and Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Azai). All of them pass an Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 cap to each other, signifying and celebrating the wrap in production when Kim, in perpetual Azai style, shows a Season 3 cap announcing:
"We're just getting started!"
There isn't much news about Season 3 as of now, since Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 is yet to release and the cast just wrapped production on it, but we do know that Jon Jon Briones as Piandao (Ratched, The Last Voyage of the Dementer, Hadestown) will be joining the cast, along with Tantoo Cardinal as Hama (Dance with Wolves, Killers of the Flower Moon, Legends of the Fall).
We also have the names of the newcomers who will be joining the cast for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2. So, there is a high chance that we'll see some of them in Season 3 as well. This list of newcomers includes Dolly De Leon as Lo and Li, Terry Chen (Jessica Jones, House of Cards) as Jeong Jeong, Madison Hu as Fei, Lily Gao as Ursa, and Dichen Lachman as Yangchen.
These actors are joining alongside the previously announced Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 cast members Chin Han, Miya Cech, Amanda Zhou, Hoa Xuande, Crystal Yu, Justin Chien, Kelemete Misipeka, Rekha Sharma, and Lourdes Faberes.
These newcomers will join the original cast from Season 1, which includes Cormier, Ian Ousley, Kiawentiio, Elizabeth Yu, Dallas Liu, Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Thalia Tran, and Momona Tamada.
Avatar: The Last Airbender's return to production for the third season is a welcome development for fans patiently waiting for updates on the release of Season 2. Now that production is over for the second season, hopefully we'll get a release date sometime later this year.
