As fans are gearing up for Stranger Things Season 5, Finn Wolfhard shared one wild prediction that actually turned out to be real, and it’s about more than Hawkins. While most of his castmates were kept in the dark, Wolfhard stunned fans and creators alike by guessing the top-secret spinoff’s premise of the show before anyone else caught on. The new series will echo Twin Peaks’ anthology style, expanding the Upside Down mythology into uncharted territory with new stories and locations, no Hawkins, no familiar faces, and a shift Netflix and the Duffer Brothers confirmed was completely unexpected.

Talking to Vulture, the actor said,

Like David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks.’ Sort of an anthology and different tones but similar universe or same universe. I think set in different places and all tied together through this mythology of the Upside Down. Don’t even talk about Hawkins. Don’t have any mention of our characters. They were toying around with ideas in case Netflix wanted them. I’m sure they do, and I’m sure it will happen, but there’s nothing official. I think the coolest way, the way that I would do it, there has to be labs everywhere. If there was one in Hawkins, there’s one in Russia. Where else could they be?

In other interviews, Wolfhard reflected on wrapping Season 5. He dubbed it a bittersweet “graduation” after a decade of late-night shoots and shared how shooting felt more like making eight movies than a TV season.

The beginning of the end is near for Stranger Things. After years of delays, production shakeups, and internet-fueled theories, Season 5 is officially on its way, and it's dropping in three parts: November 26, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve 2025.

Filming wrapped in December 2024, with the long-awaited final season consisting of eight episodes. Netflix revealed the episode titles last Stranger Things Day, hinting at a major time jump to 1987, new Dungeons & Dragons-style threats, a mysterious radio station, and maybe even a reference to A Wrinkle in Time or Mayan mythology.

In an interview with Collider, Wolfhard opened up on the show's finale and said,

"Well, I think it answers an insane amount of questions about the lore of Stranger Things, the world-building. I think a lot of people will be happy with getting back– It's the last season, so we kind of want to get back to the roots of why the show was so special in the first place, and why the dynamics are so special in the first place, and sort of getting back to that."

Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, and the full original crew are set to return, alongside new cast members like Linda Hamilton and Jake Connelly.

While this is the final season of the flagship series, the Upside Down universe lives on with spinoffs, a Broadway play, and even an animated show in the works.

All previous seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix.
