Apple TV+ just unveiled the first haunting glimpse of The Last Frontier in its brand-new teaser trailer, and it’s pure chill-inducing vibes. Starring Jason Clarke as lone U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick, the teaser unleashes the fallout of a dramatic plane crash in the frozen Alaskan wilderness, one that cracks open a deadly mystery and sets loose dozens of dangerous fugitives.
The teaser wastes zero time building dread. We open on zoomed-in shots of inmates with creepy expressions, all dressed in orange prison clothes and chained to seats. We then move to stark, snow-laden landscapes before the roar of the prison-transport plane slices through the sky and then crashes.
We don’t see much of the cast in action beyond Clarke’s hardened presence, but the teaser text teases juicy intrigue: Remnick suspects that the crash wasn’t an accident but the first move in a far-reaching, sinister plan. Paired with sweeping yet unforgiving Alaskan visuals, the trailer teases a survival thriller steeped in conspiracy and desolation.
Apple TV+ also locked in the premiere for October 10, 2025, where it’ll debut with two episodes, then stream weekly. This teaser is all setup and atmosphere, no spoiler overload, just a breath of frigid tension and big questions hovering over the icy frontier.
More details about The Last Frontier
The Last Frontier will have ten episodes, the first two of which will premiere together. After that, the series will roll out weekly every Friday, wrapping things up on December 5.
The show's synopsis reads,
“The show follows Frank Remnick, the lone U.S. marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska. Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications.”
The Last Frontier is the brainchild of Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, both of whom also serve as executive producers. Jason Clarke leads the cast and is also one of the Executive Producers, joined by a stacked lineup featuring Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and the legendary Alfre Woodard.
Action pro Sam Hargrave, who directed Extraction, takes the reins for the first three episodes. In a 2023 interview with Collider, Hargrave talked about the shift from movie sets to a tighter TV setup and the challenges that came with it. But he promised fans a killer opening episode for The Last Frontier, as he stated,
"There’s usually less time and less money crafting a TV show than there is a feature. The time we're gonna have to do the pilot episode, which has a bunch of crazy stuff, is gonna be like a quarter of what we had for Extraction. So part of it is gonna be shifting my – not shifting styles because excellence is something that I want to strive for no matter what I'm doing, but I am gonna have to be present in the reality of there's less time, less money. "
The Last Frontier will be available to stream from October 10, 2025.
