Chase Stokes is ready to let go of Outer Banks, as the actor opens up about why it's the perfect time for the show to end, and stretching it beyond that will just lead to losing the plot. After years of treasure hunts, Pogues loyalty, and global fandom, the star believes finishing strong is the only way to honor what the show was always meant to be.

In an interview with People Magazine, Stokes talked about how he's all ready for the show to end as he told the outlet,

"We want the story to end on the right note versus [turning] four seasons into season nine and we're going after aliens or something. We want to cut the chord before we lose the plot. It's beautiful to know that even though there's the highs and lows throughout all of the seasons, it's ending exactly how I was told when I started the show."

He then continued to express a few words of gratitude for the crew he has worked with, who have now become "true family" as he added,

"There's just so much gratitude because I was a kid who had a dream and no access to an industry, never really even knew what the process was. I've checked so many boxes that I thought it would span the course of the next 40 years of my career."

The Pogues are gearing up for one last ride as production has officially wrapped on the fifth and final season of Outer Banks, marking the end of Netflix’s sun soaked, treasure obsessed coming of age saga. Filmed once again in Charleston, South Carolina, the final chapter is set to premiere in 2026 and promises to close the loop on a story the creators say they have always known how to end.

From the start, Outer Banks was designed as a five season journey. According to creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, the final season will pay off the long running Blue Crown treasure hunt introduced in season 4 and carry it all the way to the show’s final frame. They have even had the very last scene mapped out since the early days, which explains why the ending feels intentional rather than stretched thin.

All the core Pogues are back for the finale. That includes Chase Stokes as John B, alongside Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, and Fiona Palomo. By the numbers, Outer Banks leaves behind a massive legacy. Across four seasons, the show has racked up nearly 200 million views and landed on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV lists 25 times. Season 4’s feature length finale was designed specifically to set up the emotional and narrative endgame now unfolding in season 5, which will premiere in 2026.

At its heart, the final season is about finishing what was started. As the creators put it, this is the final trip with the Pogues, and they are determined to make it count.

Outer Banks is streaming on Netflix.
