Fallout Season 2 is kicking things off with confidence, numbers, and a very loud critical response. As it landed an early premiere on Prime Video, the Season 2 opener immediately drew strong reactions, and the verdict so far is overwhelmingly positive. With just one episode in, it has already surpassed one major series based on a video game: HBO's The Last Of Us, breaking the latter's review numbers and audience reactions by a far margin.

The show currently has a near-perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, usurping The Last of Us' 94% rating. This already makes Fallout Season 2 one of the strongest shows of the year, and it has only just began.

The official synopsis of the second season reads,

"The new season of Fallout will pick up in the aftermath of Season One’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas. Season Two will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. Two-hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them."

The first episode of the season takes us back to 2077, where bar patrons are killed after confronting a man acting on behalf of RobCo CEO Robert House. In 2296, Lucy MacLean and the Ghoul eliminate Great Khans in Novac and trace Hank MacLean’s path to the abandoned Vault 24. Hank separately enters a deserted Vault Tec facility to continue his work. Inside Vault 31, Norm releases cryogenically preserved Vault Tec junior executives, while in Vault 32, newly appointed Overseer Steph struggles to assert control.

In Vault 33, Overseer Betty oversees water chip repairs and urges Reg to form a new club. In flashbacks, Cooper Howard tries to flee with his daughter Janey but is convinced by Lee Moldaver to stay and spy on his wife Barb as she meets Mr. House in Las Vegas.
