The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 has already premiered with the first episode titled Prelude and Bradley Cooper is breaking the internet with his versatile on-screen presence in a Civil War setting. Amidst all the social media buzz, helmer Danny McBride has recently shared his thoughts on casting the Hollywood icon whose phenomenal work in the industry deserves quite the applause.
According to Decider, McBride reportedly mentioned in a statement that it was "a fitting way" to kick off the new chapter of The Righteous Gemstones. McBride's exact words were:
"You know, it felt like a fitting way to start the last season, going back and showing maybe how this how this empire began."
He further added:
"It just felt like it was a fun, creative thing to try to challenge ourselves with. As far as Bradley Cooper, you know, when I wrote the episode, I had no idea who was going to be in it."

With the popularity of HBO's black comedy show The Righteous Gemstones increasing over the years, bringing in talented new faces in the cast is expected to leave much impact on the audience ratings. However, as mentioned by McBride in a statement to Variety, the casting process was much anticipated to be "a tall order".
He also added:
"My pie-in-the-sky pick would be someone like Bradley Cooper."
The Season 4 story is set almost 150 years back and this time, the flashbacks were a bit different and more challenging - not to mention how they take up a major part of the first episode. Per Variety, McBride also pointed out how pivotal the casting process was to narrate the story correctly, especially when:
"Fans have waited over a year for the new season."
Danny McBride further explained in a statement to Decider that The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Episode 1 portrays a back story with "none of the cast" who are originally a part of the show. His exact words were:
"This is a very tall order, none of the cast is in this. It’s a period piece and a different tone. Who could possibly step in here and people wouldn’t be disappointed?"
Then came the Academy Award-nominated star Bradley Cooper whose work in masterpieces like The Hangover saga, American Hustle, A Star Is Born and American Sniper is noteworthy. Per Decider, Danny McBride was not quite hopeful of Cooper agreeing to the offer, though he felt like the team needed exactly someone like him.
While crafting the ancestor of the Gemstones and the past stories, McBride felt that Bradley Cooper would be able to do justice to the role. According to his statement to Decider, McBride reportedly mentioned:
"I just like threw off the cuff like, ‘We need somebody awesome like Bradley Cooper."
