Just when Bode Donovan seems emotionally maxed out after grief, guilt and a whole lot of fire related trauma, Fire Country 4 is going to drop some sparks for him into the mix. Newcomer Chloe, played by Alana Tal, and someone from his past, will have a romantic arc with him this season, showrunner Tia Napolitano has confirmed.

In an interview with Collider, Napolitano has opened up about how romance will seep into this season in Bode's life. Speaking to the outlet, she said,

"We started thinking about this teacher that Bode knew from his past, before all the bad stuff happened, and then knew of him when the bad stuff happened. They have this fondness for each other and this crush that neither of them were ever able to act on because of opportunity."

She then went on to talk about what their dynamic would be like, as she added,

"The way that you’ll see them together feels very easy. It feels like people who knew each other in a past life because they sort of did. In our storytelling, they knew each other as kids, which brings a certain sweetness and a certain amount of wish fulfillment. What if your crush walked into your life now and you both happened to be available? What would happen? We’re leaning into the innocence and magic and ease that exists between those two people."

Napolitano’s comments suggest this possible romance will be slow, complicated, and deeply tied to Bode’s future. In other words, this season Bode will get some peace, if not a lot, and from everything he has been through in the previous seasons, this seems like a great start.

More details about Fire Country

Fire Country premiered in October 2022 and was created by Max Thieriot, alongside Tony Phelan and Joan Rater. As of now, the show has aired four seasons and over 60 episodes, with more on the way.

At the center of the story is Bode Donovan, played by Thieriot, a young man with a criminal past who joins the California Conservation Camp Program to reduce his prison sentence. The show places inmates on wildfire crews alongside professional firefighters, throwing Bode back into his hometown of Edgewater, California. That return cracks open old wounds, strained family ties, and unresolved guilt, especially as Bode works alongside people who knew him before everything went wrong.

As of now, Fire Country has aired it's 61st episode on December 19, and is all set to return in 2026.
