After maintaining its distance from the frenzy of streaming wars for years, Fox Corp. finally launched its own direct-to-consumer platform called Fox One on Thursday. The initiative, which targets non-cable users, will put all of Fox Corp.'s owned brands under one app, from primetime shows to live sports. The service will be available to the public starting from August 21, 2025.

CEO Pete Distad, a former Apple TV+ executive, will spearhead the new platform and introduced it to the media last Tuesday. Distad launched the platform as a one-stop solution that will combine live TV (news and sports) with on-demand streaming of Primetime Fox shows.

Introducing Fox One, Distad said in a statement:

''Fox has maintained a discipline content strategy since 2019, primarily focused on live news, sports, and quality entertainment programming... ]The new platform] is bold, it’s immediate, and built around the moments that matter most.''

Over the years, while Fox Corp. acquired the ad-supported outlet Tubi and grew Fox Nation, they have mainly opted out of the crowded streaming marketplace. However, with the new platform, the company is ready to enter the over-competitive market head-on, under the leadership of Pete Distad.

Fox Corp. launches Fox One, its direct-to-consumer streaming platform

To make your weekend-binge plans even more exciting, Fox Corp. has finally launched its direct-to-consumer platform, Fox One, which will provide access to live viewing of Fox shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons and Fox Sports. According to Fox Corp.'s sister company News Corp., the service is priced at $19.99 per month or a discounted price of $199.99.

Executive Chair and CEO Lachlan Murdoch explained the technology and scope of their new platform (during the early launch) as

“The FOX One user interface is incredibly innovative. It can be very highly personalized and relies on some very clever technology to offer something that’s truly unique in the marketplace.”

Distad added:

“In bringing together the full power of the FOX content portfolio in one service, we have created a great value proposition and user experience that will appeal to the cord-cutter and cord-never fans currently not served by conventional pay TV packages.”

In addition to live TV and Fox Sports, the platform will also provide access to Fox Business Network, Fox Weather, and FOX Entertainment. As announced by Distad, Fox One is perfect for viewers seeking entertainment without paying for expensive cable packages, as the platform will provide access to all media, including shows, news, and sports.

From primetime shows like Bob's Burgers to reality television like America's Most Wanted to live sports, the platform will cater to every viewer's needs.
