Netflix's Adolescence won big at the Golden Globes 2026. 16-year-old Owen Cooper is one of the youngest awardees, making history. For the uninitiated, the 83rd Golden Globes was scheduled this Sunday, and was expected to win big given the Netflix series's unbroken record of winning major awards, including last week's Critics Choice Awards.

Now, the 16-year-old actor has won in the "Best Supporting Male Actor" category. While accepting the award at the Golden Globes 2026 ceremony, Owen Cooper gave the following acceptance speech:

"Wow, standing here with a Golden Globe, it does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through. We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family. What started off as, what I thought [was], 'I might be okay, I might be awful. I never know.' So I took a risk, and I went to drama classes."

Cooper further continued:

"I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing. But I got through it, and I’m still very much an apprentice. So still learning every day. I’m still learning from the people that I sat in front of, you sat in front of me, who’s inspired me."

After thanking Netflix for the opportunity, Cooper concluded his Golden Globes 2026 acceptance speech by saying, "Bring on 2026. You’ll never walk alone".

Apart from the Golden Globes 2026, Adolescence and Owen Cooper also won big last week:

Adolescence was nominated for the Golden Globes in five categories, and of those, the Netflix drama won four. Thus, the series was awarded in the following categories:

  1. Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television: Adolescence
  2. Best Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television: Stephen Graham
  3. Best Supporting Actress on Television: Erin Doherty
  4. Best Supporting Actor on Television: Owen Cooper

Adolescence or Owen Cooper's Golden Globe win is not that surprising, as the series, Graham, and even the young actor also won at the Critics Choice Awards last Sunday. Cooper said this after winning the "Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television" at the Critics Choice Awards last week:

"While this past year has been a complete whirlwind for my family and me, honestly. It's changed our lives forever, and we're forever grateful. We've cherished every single moment of it. To the directors, to the producers, to the cast, the crew, you took me on an emotional journey I never imagined I could go on. You believed in me, you pushed me when things were hard and showed incredible patience when it took me to get there. Some of those moments were really, really tough, and I could n't have done it without you. Receiving this award means more to me than I can put into words."
