Hugh Laurie to star in Apple TV’s Tehran Season 3, as the spy-thriller gets renewed for Season 4

Apple TV's Tehran is already renewed for a fourth season, shortly before the third season premieres, and Hugh Laurie is the latest star to join the ensemble, gearing up for a Januar release date. The show has been critically acclaimed for it's Emmy winning premise and a stellar cast, and with the news of it's renewal, it's clear that it's looking ahead.

Laurie will star as Eric Peterson, a South African nuclear inspector and will be joined by Niv Sultan, Shaun Toub, Shila Ommi, Sasson Gabai, Phoenix Raei and Bahar Pars.

The actor has an illutrious career on television and film, and is known for leading the Fox medical drama House from 2004 to 2012, where he played the unforgettable Dr Gregory House. His performance earned him two Golden Globes, a stack of major award nominations, and a spot in the 2011 Guinness World Records as television’s most watched leading man. At the height of the show, he was also among the highest paid actors in a drama series.

After House, Laurie picked up another Golden Globe for his turn as arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper in the 2016 miniseries The Night Manager. He later earned his tenth Emmy nomination for playing Senator Tom James in the HBO comedy Veep.

Season three of Tehran returns the spotlight to Tamar Rabinyan, played by Niv Sultan, as she tries to claw her way back into the Mossad’s good graces after going off script and losing the people she trusted most. The show picks up directly after the explosive end of season two, and Tamar’s survival depends on reinventing herself from the ground up. Apple TV will premiere the season globally, while the fourth season is already filming.

Tehran continues as a joint effort between Apple TV and Israeli public broadcaster KAN 11, with producing partners Eden and Shula Spiegel for Donna and Shula Productions, Alon Aranya for Paper Plane Productions, alongside Zonder, Syrkin, Omri Shenhar, Tony Saint, Dari Shai Slutzky, Tal Fraifeld, and Ronny Perry for Kan.

Behind the camera, creators Dana Eden, Moshe Zonder, and Maor Kohn guide the story, with Tony Saint and Simon Allen writing the new season and Daniel Syrkin directing. The show continues its partnership between Apple TV and Israeli broadcaster KAN 11. Executive producers include Eden, Shula Spiegel, Alon Aranya, Julien Leroux, Zonder, Syrkin, Omri Shenhar, Saint, Dari Shai Slutzky, Tal Fraifeld, and Ronny Perry.


The first two seasons of Tehran are available to stream on Apple TV. The third season will premiere with it's first episode on January 9, followed by new episodes every Friday till February 27. More details on the fourth season are awaited for now.
